The Division of Pediatric Neurology in the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Physician Assistant (PA). The Physician Assistant will provide treatment and evaluation to neurology patients in follow-up visits with modest attending physician support. The Division of Pediatric Neurology is based at the Primary Children's Hospital Outpatient Services building on the benches overlooking Salt Lake City, and at the Lehi Campus in Utah County. Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Provides treatment and evaluation to neurology patients in follow-up visits with modest attending physician support
Takes complex medical histories and performs physical exams
Orders lab tests, imaging and electrodiagnostic studies, as well as other diagnostic procedures
Monitors and adjusts medications
Reaches tentative diagnoses
Develops treatment plans in conjunction with the attending physician
Completes dictation in a timely manner
Reviews patient and family phone messages for physicians on the electronic medical record
Evaluates patients in follow-up visits
Updates medical histories
Assesses response to treatment and side effects of medication
Formulates plans for ongoing care and discusses these plans as needed with attending physicians
Depending on division needs and candidates' interests/goals, there may be the opportunity to participate in subspecialty services (e.g. headache clinic, neuromuscular clinic)

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
Current licensure to practice as a Physician's Assistant from the State of Utah.
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
