Primarily responsible for monitoring sleep research participants during overnight study visits in clinical research settings at the University of Utah Hospital and the College of Health Research Complex. Our studies are focused on understanding the cardio-metabolic health consequences of short sleep duration and circadian misalignment, and developing new sleep and circadian- based interventions that help prevent cardio-metabolic disease (obesity, diabetes, heart disease) in populations such as shift workers, medical and military personnel, students, first-responders, and in the transportation industry.

Additionally, will be responsible for helping manage undergraduate research assistants during study visits and conducting some other non-overnight study visits such as consent and check-in appointments. The schedule will be dependent on study visits and therefore will have variable hours that are scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance.

Hourly pay: $18

Shift length: about 5-8 hours

Shift frequency: 0-10 times per month

Responsibilities

1.Oversees compliance to sleep research protocols; manages quality control, completion and

submission of study-related documentation; prepares reports for organizations and

agencies.

2.Follow detailed and time-sensitive study protocols.

3.Oversees and organizes study visit preparation including checking equipment and providing study participants reminders for their visits.

4.Communicates with team efficiently if any adverse events and protocol deviations occur during study visits.

5.Monitors study enrollment goals

Minimum Qualifications

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Preferences

1 or more years of volunteer or work experience in the healthcare field. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA, HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently. Completion of University Research Education Clinical Certification within one year of hire required. Ability to stay awake during overnight study visits.

Departments may require IRB CITI Course or IATA DGR training within a specified

timeframe.
