What you'll be doing...

The Provisioning and Equipment Engineer is responsible for the design of the optical transport network. As engineers, they assess capacity and configure new and existing infrastructure equipment to advance the deployment of the intelligent edge network (iEN). They collaborate closely with engineers focused on fiber connectivity and coordinate overall end to end service delivery. The specialist will help lead efforts on capital investments and are empowered to make decisions that keep us ahead of customer expectations. They maintain a business conscious mindset and work to leverage relationships with internal and external partners to effectively execute our commitments.

Key strengths of the specialist include:

  • Visual thinker that allows us to speed network advancement and evolution at scale.

  • Practical knowledge and experience with open system interconnection (OSI) model.

  • Knowledgeable of typical challenges from operational support systems (OSS).

  • Capable of establishing consensus amongst peers and leading negotiations.

  • Comfortable working in undefined space and deciphering complex issues.

  • Familiarity of transport technology as well as current equipment trends.

You will be serving as one of the technical leads implementing the new CORE network otherwise known as the intelligent edge network (iEN). You will make decisions on how the network equipment is designed, configured, provisioned and be responsible for results that impact key performance indicators associated with high revenue services (Wave, E-Line, E-LAN). You are empowered to make commitments on behalf of all internal teams that directly influence the customer experience with service delivery and expectations. We will rely on your thought leadership to capture user requirements and collaborate closely with IT as we evolve our operational support systems. You'll keep command and control as we deploy the latest technology while maintain familiarity of the legacy network to ensure migration plans are executed effectively and phase out older technology.

They are no stranger to a fast-paced environment and at their best when managing multiple assignments and balancing competing priorities while at the same time stay focused on key deadlines.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Engineering or related technical fields with four or more years of experience.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic technology and network equipment.

  • Familiarity with data science or process development.

  • Knowledge of "Agile" and "DevOps" concepts.

  • Familiarity of Lean Six Sigma principles.

  • Capital management experience.

VIEW JOBS 1/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-10T00:00 Equipment Breakdown Risk Engineer: We are currently seeking applicants for an Equipment Breakdown Risk Engineer (EBRE) for the New Jersey Retail Branch, located in Basking Ridge, NJ. The EBRE professional operates within the Risk Engineering Services department and is considered an integral component of the valued added services that we provide for our commercial insurance policy holders. The position will report to the New Jersey Branch Risk Engineering Manager and directly support to our New Jersey territory. Description: The primary focus of this position is to perform risk evaluations, evaluate exposures and controls, develop meaningful loss estimates, and communicate findings to business partners. Responsibilities include the application of critical thinking to determine the adequacy of controls, the likelihood of loss, the magnitude of loss, and the overall insurability. The individual will conduct boiler and pressure vessel inspections in accordance with jurisdictional rules by performing thorough examinations, identifying hazardous conditions, applying appropriate codes and standards, recommending corrective action, and submitting required reports. The individual will communicate to customers how these recommendations impact their business and appropriate courses of action. The Equipment Breakdown Risk Engineer will also perform claims investigations which include evaluating the elements of the accident, extent of damage, damage verification, invoice review, and cause of loss. The individual provides risk improvement services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigation of losses and evaluation of preventative maintenance management programs. Written reports will include evaluations of machinery breakdown and business interruption exposures, which will assist underwriters in evaluating risks and assigning proper premium for the exposure. Additional EBRE responsibilities include: * Development of risk improvement reports, recommendations and other risk assessment documentation. * Building and maintaining productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to support the business, with the agent, claims, and clients * Managing workload within an assigned territory * Taking ownership of the territory and effectively prioritize, plan, and schedule work * Utilizing technology resources for maximum efficiency * Responding to customer requests in a timely and professional manner Knowledge and Skills: * Qualified candidates will have up to 5 years of experience inspecting boilers and pressure vessels. * Candidate must have a sound proficiency in the inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, and experience with industrial, mechanical and electrical equipment. In addition, the candidate must be prepared to fulfill any additional requirements of each state jurisdiction in order to obtain state commissions. * Counsel and provide presentations to existing customers on a variety of safety related topics * Time management and work planning skills are essential for delivering efficient and productive workflow * Teamwork and advanced communication skills are necessary to achieve business goals * Strong interpersonal skills, including basic business expertise, such as sales, ability to negotiate, and the capability to interact with a wide variety of customers are essential * Additional competencies required include proficient writing skills, self-management, problem solving, and results orientation Education and Certification: * High school degree is required. * Current National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel In-Service commission. Candidates without a National Board In-Service Commission will be considered with comparable work experience. Such candidates will be required to sit for and pass the National Board of Pressure Vessel Certification within 9 months from the start of their employment. * Current State of New Jersey commission is a plus.
