What you'll be doing...
The Provisioning and Equipment Engineer is responsible for the design of the optical transport network. As engineers, they assess capacity and configure new and existing infrastructure equipment to advance the deployment of the intelligent edge network (iEN). They collaborate closely with engineers focused on fiber connectivity and coordinate overall end to end service delivery. The specialist will help lead efforts on capital investments and are empowered to make decisions that keep us ahead of customer expectations. They maintain a business conscious mindset and work to leverage relationships with internal and external partners to effectively execute our commitments.
Key strengths of the specialist include:
Visual thinker that allows us to speed network advancement and evolution at scale.
Practical knowledge and experience with open system interconnection (OSI) model.
Knowledgeable of typical challenges from operational support systems (OSS).
Capable of establishing consensus amongst peers and leading negotiations.
Comfortable working in undefined space and deciphering complex issues.
Familiarity of transport technology as well as current equipment trends.
You will be serving as one of the technical leads implementing the new CORE network otherwise known as the intelligent edge network (iEN). You will make decisions on how the network equipment is designed, configured, provisioned and be responsible for results that impact key performance indicators associated with high revenue services (Wave, E-Line, E-LAN). You are empowered to make commitments on behalf of all internal teams that directly influence the customer experience with service delivery and expectations. We will rely on your thought leadership to capture user requirements and collaborate closely with IT as we evolve our operational support systems. You'll keep command and control as we deploy the latest technology while maintain familiarity of the legacy network to ensure migration plans are executed effectively and phase out older technology.
We are looking for a strong leader who is at ease at simplifying complex challenges and able to communicate them visually. Someone who enjoys devising a vision and is at their best in making it become reality. They work well independently, but also know the great value that comes from leveraging impact from being part of team. They know how to influence others and guide them toward a common goal. They are no stranger to a fast-paced environment and at their best when managing multiple assignments and balancing competing priorities while at the same time stay focused on key deadlines.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
A degree in Engineering or related technical fields with four or more years of experience.
Knowledge of fiber optic technology and network equipment.
Familiarity with data science or process development.
Knowledge of "Agile" and "DevOps" concepts.
Familiarity of Lean Six Sigma principles.
Capital management experience.
