Summary:

The Provider Relations Navigator (PRN) is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships between CEO/Administration to current and potential members of the medical staff with the goal of developing stronger relationships with providers to maximize the volumes and revenues within Covenant facilities. The PRN serves as a communication link (mirror) to Covenant HealthCare CEO/Administration, a resource to providers and a facilitator for smooth relations between the providers and the hospital. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships exemplifying the Covenant We Care Values.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Covenant Regional Physician Liaison, Hospital Recruiters and other leadership and staff to enhance provider relations/satisfaction. • Represents the hospital in all provider-facing interactions modeling We Care Values. • Responsible for excessive traveling approximately (75%) to provider offices and/or touring/introducing providers. • Prepares and distributes informational materials and communications necessary for development of provider relationships with Covenant and collaborative partners, providing informational updates to providers designed to enhance relationships between Covenant, providers, and their office staff. • Develop Annual CMG Yearbook highlighting current CMG providers and their group accomplishments. • Provide on demand education and policy/procedural information to providers independent/employed to enhance relationships between Covenant and providers and ensure consistency of message. • Develop and maintain relationships with providers to increase utilization of Covenant services, monitors and trends physician utilization statistics. • Address provider inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. • Collaborate with internal leadership teams to identify and address provider-related issues. • Participate in Provider education and training initiatives on policies, procedures, services lines, and available technology. • Track provider interactions and maintain accurate records. • Establishing and maintaining relationships with assigned healthcare providers through office visits, telephone calls, with prompt resolution of issues, and excellent customer service. • Effectively communicate provider feedback, needs, dissatisfiers and questions directly to leadership as appropriate. • Assist Regional Physician Liaison in maintaining and updating Covenant Provider Directory. • Communicate regularly with Covenant recruiters to ensure understanding and knowledge of focus physician/provider recruitment areas. • Work closely with Medical Staff Office in the provider onboarding process, especially with understanding of Credentialing/Privileging process and timeliness. • Schedules regular provider office visits for goodwill and to increase utilization of Covenant services exercising problem solving efforts documenting office visits and any necessary follow-up activities. • Handles provider requests in a timely manner always aiming for provider satisfaction. • Initiates calls to new providers targeting program needs. • Conduit to Medical Staff Office with provider record updates • Assists Medical Staff Office by instructing providers on the importance of submitting all credentialing documents in a timely manner with compete information. • Providers support to other medical staff/recruitment needs as requested.

Other information:

REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's degree in health services, healthcare/hospital administration, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Three (3) years' experience in Network Management, Provider Relations, Sales, Customer Service or Healthcare; preferably hospital. • Unrestricted driver's license. Must be able to travel locally and occasionally regionally up to 75% of the time to provider office, hospital and other healthcare institutions. • Previous presentation experience with strong public speaking skills to present formal presentations in front of large and small audiences. • Medical terminology at a level to hold discussions with providers.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES • Demonstrates compassion, empathy, listening skills, organization skills, people skills, problem-solving skills and time-management skills. • High level of professionalism with knowledge of the dynamics of hospital-provider relations and provider practice and referral patterns; working knowledge of hospital routines and resources for fast problem solving. • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and trends in the industry. • Ability to gain trust and rapport with providers and to gain trust and rapport with ability to deal with and communicate sensitive and confidential information. • Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records. • Superior organizational skills, with strong a strong attention to detail and accuracy • Strong negotiation skills to help promote win-win situations. • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to make independent judgments, handle multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities and utilize time management skills to meet deadlines. • Demonstrated ability to research issues and bring about resolution either directly or with the assistance of others. • Follow all applicable federal/state regulations with respect to confidentiality, HIPAA, Code of Conduct and other compliance regulations and requirements. • Ability to work occasional irregular hours. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. • Constant hearing, visual accommodation, and color vision. • Frequent lifting 0-10 lbs. • Frequent walking, sitting, reaching, handling, talking, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception and field of vision. • Occasional lifting 11-25 lbs. • Occasional standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, feeling and tasting/smelling.
