The Pacific Northwest Summer Internship, located in Cigna's Seattle office, will provide the student intern with an opportunity to experience provider contracting, engage in project work, and provide general support to the market. The intern will integrate into a Total Health and Network team which works to improve Cigna's market position and the Total Medical Cost trends of Cigna's customers.

Summer Experience

The intern will have opportunities to be exposed to leadership in all market sales segments, provider relations, wellness, medical economics, and provider contracting with a focus on provider networks. There will be opportunities for the intern to meet with network providers.

The preceptor for the intern position is the market vice president for provider networks.

Projects will include network and discount analytic support, strategic planning, and review of total medical costs trends including both utilization and unit cost.

The working hours for the internship are Monday through Friday, 9AM until 5PM or as otherwise arranged.

The Ideal Candidate Pursuing a Masters in Health Administration or Business Administration

Evidence of strong analytic problem-solving abilities, application of technical accounting or financial concepts, strong communication skills, and business acumen, strong abilities with Microsoft office products, including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access.
