Join our team as a Prototype Technician!
The Prototype Technician works closely with Engineering Department for installation and construction of mechanical or electromechanical prototypes, products, or plant systems by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
Reviews requirements or instructions to assist in the design and development of new components or redesign of existing components to improve company products
Confers with Engineering to clarify or resolve problems, and develop designs
Prepares or directs preparation of product or system as directed by Project Engineers
Prepares and tests prototype product under direction of Project Engineers
Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product
Assists in the planning and development of experimental test programs
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
Confers with engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required
Maintains a working knowledge of new developments, techniques, and products in the industry
Performs other duties that may be assigned
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Experience with the following computer programs preferred:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Solidworks
Autocad
Adobe Illustrator
CorelDraw
Zuken E3
Other Skills and Abilities
Mechanical aptitude and experience preferred. Must be able to use shop tools. Must be able to use air powered tools.
Ability to MIG and TIG weld desired. Demonstrated ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.
Understanding of electric motor starting and NEMA standards. Basic understanding of the National Electric Code and other NFPA, UL and CSA standards.
Experience in the Power Generation Field, including diesel engine-driven power generator systems, rotating machine power generation principles, engine and generator control circuits and main power circuit designs

Base pay range of $32- $38 an hour
