DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform setup, adjustments, machining and quality checks on prototype samples under the direction of the

Prototype Manager. This position will ensure continued output of quality machined components.

Also, requires the ability to utilize statistical process control methods, to perform quality checks on a regular basis on each of the machines. This is an advanced position that involves knowledge of various machine operations, ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as basic diagnostic abilities. Must be able to set-up, hand load and operate each machine in the prototype area.

Must be able to attain precise limits, tolerances and standards. When a machine breaks down, this individual is responsible for assisting in diagnosis of the problem. The prototype machinist is responsible for daily PM's of the machines, keeping records of results of regular prototype cell checks, responsible for editing of programs on all machines and must be able to set tooling using compurgators, gages, or pre-setting fixture. This position starts at $19.32/hr and progresses over 15 months to a top out rate of 23.05/hr.

REQUIREMENTS:
1.High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
2.Previous 1-2 years CNC machining experience, including programming/setup

and operating as a machinist with gauging tolerance of machine parts.
3.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
4.Must pass validated Federal-Mogul machinist test.
5.Must be able to load parts weighing 25-50 pounds at waist level.
6.Must be able to bend into parts basket set on the floor, from the waist.
7.On a frequent basis must be able to stand and/or walk.
8.On an occasional basis must be able to sit, or stand in one place.
9.Must constantly be able to reach, handle and finger parts.
10. Requires clarity of vision at 20" or less (near acuity), three dimensional vision (depth perception) as well as
11. visual accommodation (sharp focusing).
12. Has the environmental condition of noise intensity at level 4, loud.

If assigned, help ensure that changeovers are done efficiently and on a timely basis. Loads conveyor at the start of the line, and watches the supply for the remainder of the lines, made up of the following machines: proofturn, rotary transfer machining center, CNC multi-spindle, weight mill, accuriser, diamond turn, spindle lathe, 4-axis machining center, drill, & vertical milling center. Must be able to attain precise limits, tolerances and standards. Runs regularly scheduled quality checks on each line, using the Statistical Process Control methods. This can include the use of gauges, a comparator, as well as visual inspection. When a machine breaks down, this individual is responsible for assisting in diagnosis of the problem, either utilizing SPC, or knowledge based on experience. New CNC Machinist start at $19.32/hr and will progress over 15 months to $23.05/hr. REQUIREMENTS: * Minimum one year of factory experience and a high school diploma or GED. Must pass Federal-Mogul machinist test. * A minimum of 2 years CNC machining experience (metal-cutting machinery preferred), including setting up and operating as a machinist with gauging tolerance of machine parts. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications. * Must be able to attain precise limits, tolerances, and standards. * Runs regularly scheduled quality checks on each line using the Statistical Process Control methods. This includes the use of gauges, a comparator, and/or visual inspection. * Sets all production tooling, spare tooling, and tooling associated with changeovers. * Numerical/ability to perform arithmetic operations. * Spatial/ability to perform arithmetic operations. * Form perception/perception of pertinent detail in objects or graphic material. * Motor coordination/coordinate eyes and hands or fingers accurately to make precise movements with speed. * Finger dexterity/ability to manipulate small objects with the fingers rapidly or accurately. * Manual dexterity/ability to move hands in placing and turning motions, easily and skillfully. * Must be a good communicator and be able to accept requests for assistance from other associates as well as from the direct supervisor. * Requires clarity of vision at 20" or less (near acuity), three dimensional vision (depth perception) as well as visual accommodation (sharp focusing).
