The Prototype Engineering Intern will report to the Manager, Sample & Prototype. The Prototype Engineering Intern's primary responsibility will be to provide technical assistance to facilitate development of thermal barrier products from inception to production. The Prototype Engineering Intern must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, including the balance between activities required to meet rapid prototyping required to advance thermal barrier business development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be an engineering student with a mechanical engineering focus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Prototype Team functional areas of Machine Shop, Waterjet Cutting and Splitting, Prototype Manufacturing, and Packaging.

  • Provide technical input to cross-functional teams throughout the thermal barrier development and design process.

  • Support Sales & Marketing prospecting and business development activities by supporting design and manufacturing of thermal barrier prototypes in the ATBC facility.

  • Support for build preparation including drawing review, tooling/fixturing preparation, and manufacturing setup.

  • Evaluate customer driven engineering design change requests for manufacturability. Propose solutions in response to customer requests and propose changes that maintain or improve Aspen's economics while meeting customer defined design requirements.

  • Support pilot scale assembly trials, analyze performance versus customer and economic targets, clearly communicate trial results to cross functional team.

  • Personally adhere to and monitor compliance with all safety procedures, policies, and maintain good housekeeping standards of team members.

  • Rely on data collection and analysis, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Projected towards Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)

  • Ability and willingness to do work in multiple areas.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.
