Prototype Assembler

Randstad Sourceright in partnership with The Bose Corporation is looking for individuals with a strong production and assembly background to join the manufacturing team in Framingham, MA.

In support of the manufacturing department, perform a variety of assembly operations on mechanical and/or electrical assemblies or subassemblies. Assemble and/or install various components where operation and sequence are specified by written instructions and visual aids (MP's).


May use assembly Tools/Equipment such as:

?? Automated test equipment

?? Automated ultrasonic welding equipment

?? Caulking guns

?? Soldering Irons

?? Pneumatic/Electric screwdrivers, Torque Wrenches

?? Tie wrap guns

?? Other small hand-tools, presses, mechanical fixtures etc.

?? Various packaging materials and equipment

Working hours: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM


Attention to detail, visual inspection of completed work.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to fill out necessary paperwork including daily reports, SPC charts etc.

Operations require standing, kneeling and bending for the duration of the shift.

Some lifting and carrying of sub-assemblies and components weighing up to 30 lbs.

Team assisted handling of final assemblies weighing 100+ lbs.

Understanding of Content assurance and basic computer skills.

Some technical knowledge is a plus.

Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment preferred.

Able to follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.

Education: High school or Technical school

Bose Applied Research is seeking a passionate, hands-on senior acoustical engineer to help bring next-generation noise reduction and sound control to our industry leading headsets and personal audio products. You will be a key member of our interdisciplinary team, working closely with your Bose engineering colleagues to deliver innovative and novel solutions that make our customers re-think what is possible in a personal audio experience. Responsibilities: Lead cross functional engineering project teams to invent, prototype and prove new technologies for the next generation of our Personal Audio and Active Noise Cancelling headphone products. Investigate and develop acoustic and system design concepts to enable new or improved customer experiences Use various simulation tools to predict and optimize acoustic system behavior Define, build, and characterize physical prototypes of acoustic and noise reduction systems Conduct acoustic measurements of components, subsystems, and full assemblies and perform thorough analysis of results Work directly with DSP and controls engineers to tune and optimize system performance Clearly communicate results through informal peer reviews and prepare your work for formal delivery to internal customers Define, specify, and validate components, equipment and processes necessary for the success of your designs Support development and production teams for the successful implementation of your work Qualifications: BS required, MS or PhD strongly preferred in Acoustical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering 8+ years of direct acoustic design and test experience of high performance audio products Expert technical problem solver, with ability to identify, scope out, plan, and lead cross functional teams to investigate and solve challenging problems Demonstrated ability to develop new concepts, methods and/or tools while working through ill-defined problems Strong fundamental knowledge of headphone acoustic structures and enclosure/porting design Experience with active noise cancellation technology is preferred Analysis experience including acoustic lumped element modeling as well as finite and/or boundary element modeling Experience designing and/or specifying requirements for drivers, microphones, foams and other acoustic materials Deep understanding of acoustic measurement systems and ability to develop new processes and techniques as required Knowledge of psychoacoustics and audio and/or speech quality evaluation Familiarity with signal processing techniques for beamforming, speech processing, echo cancelation and audio rendering is preferred Competent using Matlab for data analysis and visualization Excellent verbal & written communication skills Ability to adapt to rapidly changing constraints and requirements, while maintaining the highest performance standards Management experience of individual contributors desirable Critical listening skills with a passion for music and audio quality a plus Bose is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
