The Division of Institutional Advancement at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Prospect Research Analyst position. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Major and Planned Gifts Unit, the Prospect Research Analyst identifies, researches, and analyzes information on prospective donors to Jackson State University. The Analyst provides research support to key leadership at the University and within the Foundation, as well as to Development Officers (DOs), in order to inform development strategies and advance potential donor relationships. The Prospect Research Analyst responds to research requests in a timely manner, analyzing and synthesizing information, and generating user-friendly profiles, memos and reports. The Analyst qualifies, screens, and rates potential donors, and proactively identifies new prospective major and principal gift donors. As part of a collaborative team, the Prospect Research Analyst coordinates with Major and Planned Gifts Unit staff to ensure that the best prospects are assigned to development officers, and plays a critical role in the overall success of the growing the Major Gifts Program.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education

A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business administration or other related field with transferrable skills (creating reports).

Minimum Required Experience

One to three (1-3) years of Banner and/or Raiser's Edge experience, advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, and two to three (2- 3) years of experience in a nonprofit office setting.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

None.

Qualifications

Two to three (2-3) years' experience in prospect research, and experience with fundraising for Higher Education. Computer literacy and technology proficiency in standard word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify prospective donors and manage prospects and donor relationship through prospect/ donor research, preparing capacity/affinity reports, evaluating prospects, and ensuring prospects are moved through the pipeline from qualification to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Utilize advanced research techniques and resources to assess and determine to viability of donors.

  • Prepare complex reports and briefings for use by fundraising constituencies, and senior administration.

  • Maintains and organizes prospect records in accurate databases and central files.

  • Coordinates research to ensure current biographical information is routed to JSU executive leadership, board members and development staff attending events and participating in solicitations.

  • Plans and organizes regular meetings with the ED and Development Officers to assign prospects through the pipeline and develop and enhance strategy to convert prospects to donors.

  • Assure prospects arc properly coded in the donor database.

  • Supports the advancement office by researching and developing specifications for new software to supports development research, assist with software implementations, and maintain a research library.

  • Work with the advancement team in gathering, entering, and formatting important donor information into the CRM system, continually updating database records and individual donor files.

  • Provide data entry support and ongoing maintenance for contacts, project tasks and other information into CRM system.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
