As a result of FCA's Powertrain Systems focus to bring high quality products with an exceptional user experience to its customers, it is expanding its Advanced Development Engineering organization in the area responsible for developing the Requirements Simulation Models for Powertrain Propulsion Systems.

Selected candidates will be immersed in a hands-on role, working with state of the art technologies, in a field exhibiting rapid year over year growth. As part of this team, candidates will work side by side with specialists and subject matter experts creating an environment fostering continued skill set growth knowledge share. The Propulsion System Requirements Engineering team is currently seeking individuals to fill the role of a Simulation Engineer. In this position, the Engineer will be responsible for developing System Modelling Language (SysML) based Diagrams (State Machine, Activity, Sequence, Block Definition, Internal Block, Requirements) to be used in creating Executable Models. The Simulation of system requirements in a virtual environment, using Rhapsody is necessary to successfully identify Powertrain Propulsion System level requirements to help production design teams. These systems may include improvements and modifications to existing features such as Managing Requests for various Powertrain systems such as Torque, Thermal, Stop/Start, Communications, and Diagnostics or numerous other subsystems in the areas of Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain/Electrified. He/she will also be responsible for developing and executing plans for completely new Powertrain features, including autonomous driving controls.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Design, implement, verify and maintain executable system requirements simulations

  • Execute System Requirements model checks using existing textual based VFs and CFTSs

  • Work with System Engineers to apply System Behavioral testing (SBT) of Requirements models

  • Review and help develop System Requirements Modeling Style guide(s) for various new Powertrain Propulsion Systems and applications

  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional powertrain system and controls development engineers

  • Support the Powertrain Project Center development teams on a per-request basis for simulated environments, conditions, and configurations

  • Analyze, identify and implement system requirements model upgrades and improvements as they become necessary for requirements validation

  • Lead and participate in collaborate discussions with global SysML workgroups within Powertrain organizations to ensure standardization of tools, methodologies, and models

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Systems, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science/Physics)

  • Previous experience in simulation development and execution

  • Minimum of 10 years related engineering experience

  • Knowledge of System Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML)

  • Proficient with modeling concepts from tools such as Matlab/Simulink/Visual Basic/Python/LabVIEW

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) or Google GSuite

  • Experience utilizing general engineering tools FMEA, DVP&R, Lessons Learned

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Self-driven and highly motivated team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) certified

  • International Council On Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certified

  • Masters of Science degree in Automotive Systems, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university

  • Experience with various vehicle networking including CAN, CANFD, or Automotive Ethernet

  • Proficient in vehicle functional safety standards ISO 26262
