Description

TriVector is seeking an Engineer to who will work both independently at times and in an integrated team performing engine systems and system engineering-related activities to enable the design, test, and operation of rocket engine at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).

Essential Job Functions

  • Support hot-fire testing of liquid rocket engines.

  • Review pre-test predictions and post-test data, conduct anomaly investigations, prepare and coordinate engine system and subsystem data review contents and presentations.

  • Coordinate, develop, and present technical materials related to engine system performance, testing and integration to support design milestone reviews and anomaly investigations.

  • Develop and execute engine system analysis models to support system test, vehicle integration, and design development activities.

  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of the evaluation process.

  • Prepare reports and technical assessments in areas of liquid propulsion systems and performance.

  • Implement risk management processes.

  • Document and maintain test and data analysis processes in written work instructions.

  • Translate higher level requirements into lower level functional requirements and design options.

  • Conduct assessments to determine optimal and feasible design solutions.

Education

  • A degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited institution is required.

  • At least 5 years of experience is required working systems engineering, project management processes, and\or launch vehicle subsystem operations.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with liquid rocket engine propulsion systems.

  • Experience with the RS-25 (Space Shuttle Main Engine) and liquid rocket vehicle integration.

  • Experience with testing, data acquisition and data analyses and vehicle-engine integration..

  • Exhibited capability to plan and perform systems engineering and analysis tasks

Security clearance: U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Position Description: This position is for a Propulsion Systems Engineer who will work in a highly integrated team performing varied systems engineering activities to enable the design, test, and operation of the Space Launch System (SLS), Human Lander Systems (HLS), and other liquid propulsion systems. Primary duties for the Propulsion Systems Engineer would include: * Support and deliver products in areas of main propulsion systems, spacecraft propulsion systems, subsystems and components for liquid (cryogenic, storable, monopropellant, bipropellant, and dual mode), gas, and advanced liquid propellant systems for both launch vehicle and in-space applications at Marshall Space Flight Center. * Provide technical support for propulsion system development and verification within propulsion systems of spacecraft being developed for the Space Launch System Program and Human Lander Systems Program. * Participate in trade studies and prepare reports and technical assessments in areas of main propulsion system and spacecraft propulsion system sizing and performance. * Develop requirement sets, development plans, and verification plans. * Coordinate, develop, and present technical materials in support of design milestone reviews, anomaly investigations, and training. * Work across technical areas and Integrated Product Teams (IPT). * Document and deliver results with recommendations. * Perform other duties as assigned related to propulsion systems engineering. Qualifications: Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited university preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D.; Masters with at least 3 years' experience, or a BS with at least 5 years' experience. * Demonstrated experience in propulsion systems design, analysis, integration and/or development/verification testing is required. * Experience understanding, writing and debugging at least one industry-standard language and understanding of standard coding procedures and software requirements processes is a plus. * Knowledge of valve operation and design is highly desired. * Familiarity with hypergolic propellants, storables, reaction control systems, or in-space propulsion considered a plus. * Flexibility and a desire to accept new responsibilities and learn new skills is paramount. * A demonstrated capability to plan and perform systems engineering and analysis tasks independently and as a team are required. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Power-Point, Excel, and Word is required. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. * Individual must be highly motivated, flexible and willing to shift focus areas to meet volatile customer requirements.
