  • Setup and operate a variety of metal 3D printers

  • Monitor and record operational information on specified production reports such as recoat levels, issues, material consumption rate, and completion dates

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, optical laser, electrical, and build issues

  • Independently perform verifications on completed parts to ensure conformance and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner

  • Perform post print operations including powder and support removal, cleaning, and part handling

  • Follow work orders, procedures, specifications, and test instructions

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance

  • Provide process improvement feedback and implement solutions

  • Assist Engineers with setup and fabrication of new and current 3D printers

  • Create issue tickets based on quality standards and perform quality work based on engineering disposition


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or testing environment
  • 2+ years of professional experience with operating one or more of the following: surface grinders, vertical mills, lathes, media blasters, cranes, or forklifts


  • Experience with operating metal 3D printers and knowledge of associated hazards

  • Experience with additive manufacturing principles

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings

  • Experience using NX/Teamcenter

  • Proficient in hand, power, and pneumatic tools such as drills, chisels, calipers, micrometers, taps and dies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office


  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted

  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when needed

  • Must be willing to work around potentially hazardous material; Respiratory equipment and flame retardant PPE may be required

We are seeking experienced and energetic candidates to join our world-class team in Hawthorne, CA. This position supports Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) certification and validation of SpaceX's Falcon rockets being used to provide launch services for NSSL missions. Join our ManTech team of highly talented engineers as a Quality Engineer with skills and background related to space launch vehicle design, manufacturing, and/or operations. General Responsibilities: * Requires a high level of experience (at least 8 years) involving producibility or manufacture of complex products; application of modern quality principals and methods including: quality management system standards, product and process controls, measurement and test, audits, statistical applications, corrective and preventive actions, and lean manufacturing to perform the complex tasks required for Falcon certification. * Responsible for reporting assessment and evaluation results to senior program managers and customer representatives. * Interface with a multi-disciplined team consisting of multiple Contractors and team members. * Work with launch vehicle provider to schedule and track audits to be performed during rocket certification activities. * Develop products such as data tables, audit checklists, presentations, and reports status to the customer. * Compile and present weekly status charts of progress to AF leadership. * Complete audits and audit checklists in preparation for Engineering Review Boards and design reviews. * Interface with customer, design engineers, project manager, and production personnel. * Conduct assessments and evaluations of manufacturing products and processes per applicable military and industry/commercial standards (AS9100, SMC-S-003, etc.), and/or Launch Service Provider company standards to meet certification objectives and document these results/findings for government review and concurrence. * Work closely with other quality, manufacturing and design engineers to support as-designed and as-built verification. * Review established configuration control associated with the manufacturing baseline for conformance. * Ensure each launch service provider performs physical configuration audits by following established and standardized processes. Mandatory Skills Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant subject such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, and 8-10 years of relevant experience. * Strong background in propulsion and structural systems of launch vehicles in the context of manufacturing and manufacturing equipment for high level assemblies and sub-assemblies. * Analytical and critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, listening skills, leadership skills and organizational skills. * Ability to handle stress and work well under pressure. * Multi-Tasking Ability. * Ability to obtain a secret security clearance. * Initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, with successful collaboration skills dealing with multiple agencies and personnel. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Demonstrated competency in Microsoft tools including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Information Technology (IT) systems and SharePoint-type databases. * Demonstrated ability to resolve quality issues effectively. * Frequent travel required to Los Angeles Air Force Base. Occasional travel to Vandenberg AFB, Cape Canaveral AFS, suppliers, and other sites. Other Skills Preferred: * 8-10 years of experience with BS and experience involving quality engineering, product ability or manufacture of complex products; application of modern quality principles and methods including: quality management system standards, product and process controls, measurement and test, audits, statistical applications, corrective and preventive actions, and lean manufacturing. * Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) training and certification. * Certified Quality Engineer (CGE) training and certification. * Experience with space-qualified parts fabrication and assembly. * Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems. * Master's Degree desirable. * Active secret security clearance (strongly preferred).
