Job Description Summary:

Under supervision from local leadership, we are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Proposal Writer to collaborate with our operations teams in developing compelling and accurate technical narratives for our proposals. This role is critical in ensuring that our proposals clearly and effectively communicate our technical solutions, methodologies, and expertise to potential clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing within the AEC industry and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and persuasive narratives in support of the acquisition of new work.

The role is based in Sacramento; hybrid home/office work environment is acceptable. In either situation, must be able to work independently, take ownership of content, and meet tight production schedules.

Job Description:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Work closely with operations staff (i.e., engineers, architects, project managers, and other technical professionals) to gather detailed information and insights necessary for proposal development.

• Create comprehensive and compelling technical narratives that clearly outline the proposed solutions, methodologies, and technical expertise relevant to each project.

• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all technical content. Review and edit contributions from various technical team members to maintain a unified voice and high quality with strict adherence to the company's Writing Style Guide.

• Customize technical sections of proposals to address specific client requirements and evaluation criteria outlined in Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

• Ensure all technical content accurately reflects the capabilities and experience of the company, adhering to industry standards and best practices.

• Work in close collaboration and conjunction with proposal managers to integrate technical narratives seamlessly with other proposal components.

• Work in partnership with graphic design team members to create strong corresponding graphics in support of complex technical solutions.

• Provide editing and proofreading services to the regional Marketing team, as needed.

• Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices. Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the proposal development process.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Business Writing, or Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.

Professional certifications in technical writing or a related field a plus.

Strong understanding of engineering and construction principles, practices, and terminology a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to write effectively and communicate in a clear and compelling manner, with a strong command of English grammar and unwavering attention to detail.

• Exceptional organizational, planning, and project management skills.

• Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills with a hands-on and team-oriented attitude.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign) for professional document design, layout, and production is a plus.

Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $65,000.00 - $110,000.00
