Proposal Writers compose informative documents in order to help companies secure a new client's business or maintain existing business. The proposal generally outlines the services a company offers and why it is uniquely qualified to provide those services, usually following a specific format issued by the client.
The Proposal Writer is responsible for all administrative aspects of proposal development under all industry segments (Corrections, Healthcare, Education, and Business Dining)ensuring the integrity of all proposal documentation, coordinating internal flow and review of all proposal sections, ensuring compliance, coordinating schedules, and directing submission of the final proposal files to production. The Proposal Writer works closely with Business Development Directors (BDDs) to create proposals, and reports to the Proposal Manager.

Demonstrate skills in project prioritization, based on a multitude of factors (including deadlines, complexity of the project, and BDD availability)
Demonstrate flexibility and proactively manage changes in project scope (including deadline shifts, BDD schedule changes, and addenda issued unexpectedly), while still meeting prescribed deadlines.
Use knowledge gained through everyday activities to identify ways to improve processes and contribute to proposal team's overall efficiency.
Prepare and oversee assigned proposals for all industry segments, from start to finish.
Take the lead in writing and responding to complex Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for existing and prospective customers.
Create proposals for new and existing clients, by:
Collecting existing content and customizing to comply with current RFP
Creating descriptive and persuasive custom content as needed
Interviewing SMEs to create missing content as needed
Following proposal writing standards for readability, consistency, and tone
Establishing and ensuring compliance with production schedule for each proposal
Coordinating draft reviews by team members and integrating their revisions
Proofreading proposal thoroughly before it goes to production
Ensuring accurate and timely proposal production and delivery
Develop strong relationships with internal customers (BDDs).
Perform a range of marketing support tasks for other projects as needed.
High School diploma required.
Bachelor's degree preferred; or postsecondary degree in English, marketing, technical writing, communications or journalism
Minimum of three years working in a business or corporate setting.
Writing experience, preferably in proposal, marketing, business, or technical writing.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Experience working with and interviewing internal SMEs to develop persuasive text.
Strong attention to detail with accurate proof-reading skills.
Skilled in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Exposure to Adobe inDesign preferred.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to multitask while directing projects with fluctuating priorities.
Ability to work in a self-directed manner within a fast-paced, deadline-driven and complex environment.
Must be able to work as needed to meet tight deadlines and at peak periods.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
