Position Overview: The Proposal Engineer is responsible for working on a full range of projects to perform complete estimates from receipt of quote inquiries through final proposals. This includes understanding a scope of work, uncovering RFQ questions, project clarifications and providing structured, detailed estimates. Proposal Engineers must be able to quickly analyze, compare and interpret detailed RFQ's and be able to make accurate judgements based on such information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conceptualize, create, and price L2 and L3 ETO solutions and proposals, including CAD drawings
Provide customers, distributors and RM's with application assistance and guidance
Conduct product testing to confirm application solutions
Provide engineering with detailed scope of work
Schedule, plan, and interface with manufacturing
Communicate with customers to gather information about their needs and preferences regarding design solutions
Prepare quotes on new projects, including reviewing existing plans and researching potential challenges that could arise during construction
Organize site visits and meetings with customers and suppliers
Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
Knowledgeable at reading engineering drawings
A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, machining processes and costing
Ability to think abstractly to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Knowledge of automation and/or conveyance
Demonstrates product knowledge obtained through experiential hands-on training
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of successful estimating or related experience
SolidWorks and other appropriate computer skills
