The Property Tax Administrator consists of professional and administrative-level work coordinating Broomfield's Property tax program. Work involves organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the property tax collection process.

Total Compensation Package

Salary Range: $40.95 - $55.41

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

  • Oversees implementation, collection, enforcement and reporting of the Broomfield Property Tax Program.

  • Coordinates with the Assessor's office and 3rd party vendor for annual transfer of certified property tax records.

  • Directs annual mailing of Tax Notices to all property owners in compliance with legally required deadlines.

  • Oversees annual Tax Lien Sale process and the issuance of Treasurer's Deeds. Evaluates accuracy of the final tax roll report.

  • Manages month-end balancing and reporting of property tax collections and distributions, including distributing funds to taxing authorities monthly.

  • Prepares annual reports for auditors and assists in the preparation of the annual audit.

  • Operates as Sales Tax and/or Public Trustee in the absence of those administrators as directed by the Revenue Manager.

  • Shares responsibility of balancing and reporting Sales Tax receipts and deposits as needed.

  • Primary Property Tax with other departments as well as state, local, and other public officials.

  • Reconciles Property Tax bank accounts and maintains adequate balances for all banking needs.

  • Maintains knowledge of current Colorado property tax law concerning property taxation and collection as well as Colorado Public Trustee laws concerning releases of deeds of trust and foreclosures of deeds of trust.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required in accounting, business administration, finance, or a closely related field.

  • Knowledge of Tyler Eagle Treasurer and Recording systems - required

Experience

  • 3 years accounting experience including one year experience in revenue management - required

  • Experience interpreting and enforcing state statutes and administering county property tax - preferred

Or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):

Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, DMV check, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.

Working Conditions

  • Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and evening hours. Regular, reliable attendance is required.

  • Work is performed at City/County work locations with the ability to perform some duties remotely in accordance with Broomfield's remote work policy

  • Physical demands are described as sedentary (exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Data entry and other tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • In-person customer/client/team interactions required.
