Job Purpose

The Product Analyst III is a senior level position that provides support to Product Managers who possess profit and loss responsibilities for their state(s). The Product Analyst III has a thorough understanding of the product and ramifications of proposed plan changes. Works independently with very little supervision. Considered a resident expert of a particular process or for a state(s).

Essential Job Functions

Continually review methodology and procedures for relevance; develops new methodology or procedures to accommodate program changes.
Gathers information from various querying tools and research methods to produce and interpret standard reports for division use.
Monitors business performance in states including but not limited to, prospect growth, conversion ratios, earned premium growth, underwriting profitability, retention
Analyzes past trends that can be predictive of future business performance
Creates reports that track state results and highlight areas of opportunity
Researches competitor information and analyzes the impact on our business
Researches changes in the regulatory environment of the state(s)
Formulates conclusions from analyses and independently recommends effective solutions.
Leads rate revision and rule review meetings; ensures compliance with state requirements
Leads or participates in divisional/regional or company-wide projects
Mentors lower level product analysts

Job Qualifications

Proven time management skills
Demonstrated application of mathematics, statistics, probability and principles of finance to property casualty business problems
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to extract, manipulate, and analyze data.
Basic technical aptitude and experience in data manipulation using tools such as SAS, SQL, R or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Advanced skills in Excel including the ability to create, manipulate and formulate spreadsheets, v-look-ups, pivot tables, charts and graphing.
Advanced MS office skills.
Knowledge of Progressive's product and services
Solid knowledge of mainframe reporting packages
Knowledge of Progressive's systems, databases

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business or related field of study (e.g., Math, Economics, Finance, Math/Actuarial Science).
Minimum of 3 years property casualty insurance experience or related professional experience (e.g., analytical work in a professional setting).
