Our Large Loss Claims department is seeking a Property ClaimsAccountant to join our team in the Worcester, MA office.

Fully responsible for the investigation, analysis, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of the financial loss aspects of business interruption, fidelity/employee dishonesty, and theft claims. Assignments could originate anywhere in the country and involve commercial losses; which are complex in coverage and damages.

Assignments handled could include full and/or partial ownership depending on the exposures involved. Assignments are managed in accordance with involved policy provisions, state regulations, and prescribed company best practices. This is a Full-time, Exempt role.

Responsibilities:

  • Fully responsible for the investigation, analysis, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of the financial loss aspects of business interruption, fidelity/employee dishonesty, and theft claims requiring thorough investigations including telephone contacts with all the involved parties.May be responsible for additional aspects of each claim, including informal hearings, arbitrations and claims litigation and maintaining a high level of productivity, confidentiality and customer service.Demonstrates an understanding of and independently analyzes financial documents to properly calculate damages.Able to read and interpret business contracts.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviews professional publications; participating in professional societies.Works within significant limits and authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and coordination. Uses discretion and independent judgment in claim handling.

    Identifies possibly suspicious claims. Task assignments on claims handled will be of greater complexity and will require a higher level of investigation, analysis, evaluation, and negotiation. Primarily handle portions of 1st party inside commercial claims with exposures up to $150,000.Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.Authority levels are higher in recognition of the higher proficiency associated with this level.May be used as a technical resource by adjusters. May represent the company at mediation, arbitration and trials.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.1-3 years accounting experience. JOB SUMMARY: Investigates, evaluates, negotiates and brings to a final resolution commercial property damage claims predominantly of a moderate to serious nature. Promotes and provides ""On Your Side"" customer service. Responsible for the handling of claims in accordance with prescribed authorization. Job Description RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Supervisor/Manager DIRECT REPORTS: None JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Handles to conclusion moderate to serious complexity commercial property damage claims with little to no direction and oversight. Makes decisions within delegated authorization; recommends settlement values in the disposition of moderate and sometimes serious and complex claims. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of superior claims service. * Determines proper policy coverages and applies best claims practices to conclude assigned cases in accordance with company guidelines.
