Property Accountant

POSITION: Commercial Property Accountant POSTITION SUMMARY Commercial and Residential Property Accountant will be responsible for the accounting associated for several properties in a region.

The Property Accountant reports to the Property Assistant Controller who in turn reports to the Property Controller. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain the accrual books for approximately 6-10 properties within a region. Includes approving coding on purchases, recording journal entries, and following monthly closing procedures.

Assists management in the budget process. Includes interfacing with management for assumptions, preparing budgets, inputting budget via journal entry into accounting software. Reports to management monthly and compares actual results to budget.

Conducts annual reconciliations of CAM and semi-annual RET expenses with follow up billing to tenants. Position is also responsible for the assistance with information needed from individual tenant audits. Works closely with the bookkeeper and management to determine proper transaction coding. Assist with special projects EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor's degree is required Public Accounting experience is a plus 5 years of related experience is required Excellent written and communication skills Experience in Yardi is preferred CRITICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Advanced analytical skills and problem solving abilities Strong Excel skills Expertise in prioritizing and resolving issues efficiently and effectively
