POSITION: Property Accountant (Full Time, Exempt)

DIRECT REPORT: Accounting Manager


This position works out of our Corporate Office in Denver, CO and reports to the Controller. As a Property Accountant, you are primarily responsible for maintaining the overall integrity of financial records for a portfolio of real estate communities. On-going responsibilities include bookkeeping, internal support with accounting related issues, and month-end procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work with a growing company that encourages collaboration across several professional Teams in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Design, Development, and Project Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to)

  • Bookkeeping: Records revenue and expense accruals, depreciation and amortization entries,

and other journal input.

  • Accounts Payable: Reviews check runs and maintains document and vendor correspondence files.

  • Accounts Receivable: Reconciles deposits write-offs, and bad debt entries.

  • Reconciles bank accounts, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payables, long-term debt, members' equity, revenue, and expense accounts.

  • Completes the company's month-end procedures for each assigned community.

  • Correspondence: Collaborates on company's day-to-day activities and communicates with company's clients and other interested parties.

  • Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supplementary reports.

  • Assists in year-end activities, including audit and tax return preparation.

  • Participates in Cardinal U training as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • 3-5 years' experience in real estate bookkeeping; property management experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and their proper application within the property management and real estate industries

  • Expertise with common technical accounting skills and accounting concepts, including but

  • not limited to: Journal Entries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, General Ledger Analysis,Accrual Basis, Cash Basis, Operating Expenditures, and Capital Expenditures

  • Experience with property management software; Yardi Voyager experience preferred

  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Ability to read, analyze, articulate and compile financial reports used for business correspondence

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to assist with additional tasks if/when the need arises

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to work as a team player and respect those you work with

COMPENSATION: Biweekly, plus Benefits and Bonus eligibility

We are currently looking for a Property Accountant to support an assigned hotel portfolio in our corporate office located in the DTC. Delivering daily on Distinguished Hospitality™ that is what we expect of you, but we also expect you excel at the following: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Reconcile general ledger accounts and revenue accounts and resolve outstanding balancing issues. * Perform accounting analysis for specified balance sheet accounts monthly including bank reconciliation, payables and receivables and sales tax accounts. * Review financial reports to identify and explain variances. * Perform month-end close activities and reconciliations. * Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for accruals and variances. * Act as a liaison to hotels by addressing and solving accounting issues and queries daily. * Generate and distribute management reports on monthly basis. * Adhere to standard accounting principles and company procedures. * Ability to multi task and meet strict deadlines. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. * Strong time management skills. * Must demonstrate strong self- initiative and follow-through. * Must be able to provide excellent customer service to our internal and external customers. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: * General accounting experience required, to general ledger, bank reconciliations, financial statement, balance sheet preparation and Accounts Payable required. * PC literacy in MS Word and MS Excel required. * Hospitality experience preferred. * Proficiency with SAP highly desirable.
