Americas for Conservation+ the Arts (AFC+A) is one of the very few Latina founded and led organizations of its mission and size in the state of Colorado - and the country - fighting systemic racism in the conservation and creative workspaces, leveraging arts and culture for Diversity Equity and Inclusion gains. Our goal is to advance healthy communities and economic vitality through environmental justice led workforce development while addressing racial inequities and growing the capacity of the Promotores Verdes Academy.

We are sponsoring 3 Americorps Vista positions to advance healthy communities and economic vitality through environmental justice led workforce development while addressing racial inequities and growing the capacity of the Promotores Verdes Academy. These Vista positions (outreach, curriculum and workforce focused) are working hand in hand with AFCA staff and collaborate with each other. The Promotores Verdes Workforce Development Vista collaborates with Vista colleagues to design a system for culturally responsive workforce development for professions in natural resources, conservation and health related fields to diversify the workforce and strengthen the economic opportunities for community members.

The Vista will plan a campaign to air on radio and other media to share educational advancement and career skill building opportunities, will evaluate workshop participants' success and identify gaps and barriers for advancing economic opportunities, present findings and recommendations to AFC+A staff. will develop a tracking system to analyze PV Academy participants, family health and economic situation/ improvements to report impact, identify educational- and resource gaps and best practices, and plan one job fair/ career connection focused event in collaboration with community organizations, educational institutions and workforce providers.
