Job Description

WFSB, a TV station owned and operated by the Meredith Corporation is looking for a Promotion Producer to join our team!

The Promotion Producer handles topicals, image promos and a wide variety of marketing initiatives on all platforms TV, web, mobile, and social. This individual must have a strong grasp of both content and emotional marketing.

The role requires writing, daily editing, log work, media placement, as well as collaboration with sales, digital and news teams. Must be proficient in non-linear editing, with experience in Avid and Aftereffects preferred. Photography prowess is a plus.

Should have experience in a fast-paced, daily-deadline marketing environment, with news promotion experience strongly preferred. Must be willing to work long or unusual hours as broadcast needs require.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial production

  • Digital Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
60% - Produces, writes, edits and logs topical and image promos
20% - Develops and executes marketing plans for contests and other platforms
10% - Participates in station marketing efforts, including special events and initiatives
10% - Other special projects as assigned by management

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.


College degree required.


Minimum one year experience in broadcast promotion environment, with experience in daily news operation strongly preferred.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong writing skills.

Strong non-linear editing skills.

Understanding of basic marketing principles.

Understanding of broadcast operations, including production techniques and log traffic.

Extremely strong organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal collaboration and communication skills.

Must be able to handle a variety of situations encountered during sales process and work with minimal supervision. * Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Field sales position responsible for selling Electronic Services (Moves, Adds and changes) to assigned customer base (geography or account). * Manage the entire sales process, from uncovering opportunity, developing solution/value proposition, preparing design, creating contract, negotiating terms, closing opportunities, and providing on-going customer service through service delivery. * Work with other sales, technical, design engineering, service, support, and management to meet customer needs. * Determine customer needs and develop a sales strategy to gain customer understanding of company product offerings. * Close sales to meet or exceed sales plan objectives. * Develop and maintain an active proposal backlog that will support achieving the designated sales plan. * Assume account management responsibility including the provision and/or coordination of services (installation, customer training, etc.) to assure complete customer satisfaction. * Develop financial justifications, prepare proposals, make presentations, and perform necessary follow-up for successful closing of the sales. * Investigate and resolve customer problems in regard to delivery dates, billings, financing and other related matters. * Maintain established accounts through regular customer contact in pursuit of additional sales. * Perform periodic market investigations within as assigned territory to develop new applications; provide sales forecasting for assigned territory. * Conduct building surveys to support the development of estimates. * Maintain correct and complete records of all sales related activities. What we look for Required * Three or more years, successful sales or technical experience with fire alarms, security control, and monitoring or similar industry. * PC Proficiency including familiarity with Word, Excel, and job costing systems. * Highly Self-motivated and success driven and able to work with limited supervision * High degree of self-discipline. * Good organizational skills * Strong written and oral communication and. * Ability to quickly identify and qualify opportunities. * Excellent sales, presentation, and closing techniques. * Ability to persuade and close sales. * Ability to obtain appropriate licenses required by national, state and local codes. * Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Preferred * Bachelor degree in marketing, business, or engineering preferred. * Ability to obtain NICET II certification within the first 12 months of employment * Experience working with electrical contractors, ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams desirable. * Computer experience with Oracle programs preferred.
