Kelly Services is currently hiring for

Prolene Operator in Athens, GA. You will be working for one of the top

Medical Device Manufacturing companies in the nation.

The Prolene Operator safely and efficiently executes daily tasks related to production of Prolene non-absorbable suture. Main task includes rack winding, heat set, auto cutting, inspection, testing. Completion of preventative maintenance activities and material handling as needed.

PAY RATE : $13.00 per hour for 3rd shift

SHIFT AVAILABLE: 3rd shift hours: 11pm 7am or 12midnight 8am with Overtime, Sunday - Thursday

Essential Functions:

  • Operates heat set oven, sets up and Operator Auto inspect/cut equipment, run multiple Auto inspect/cut machines as one cell

  • Performs minor maintenance to equipment, proper line clearance procedures and weekly preventative maintenance on auto inspect/cut equipment

  • Lift racks of 5-10 lbs. and places into rack-winder

  • Performs scheduling of production lots

  • Obtains departmental supplies

  • Creates production orders and tickets on computer

  • Performs tipping on fine size Prolene

  • Rack winds fine size Prolene

  • Performs inventory of material

  • Mixes solution and tips fine size Prolene

Other responsibilities:

  • Inspects, cuts and packages material

  • Identifies defects and removes from lots

  • Cuts material to required lengths

  • Packages material and label

  • Maintains accurate records

  • Measures tips on tipped material

  • Obtains samples from lot for testing

  • Operates required testing equipment

  • Maintains accurate records

  • Releases QA accepted material

Qualifications must include:

  • Work in a team environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 1+ years of relevant work experience required

  • Computer Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required

  • Problem solving skills required

  • Ability to keep accurate and legible records required

  • Basic math skills required (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages, etc.)

  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and have the ability to work under minimum supervision in a collaborative team environment

  • Must be willing and able to work in a stressful fast paced environment

  • Mechanical aptitude preferred

  • Must be willing and able to meet the physical demands of this job which include: lifting/carrying 0-30 lbs., lifting ground to waist, lifting waist to overhead, overhead work including pushing/pulling/reaching, standing, sitting, walking, and repetitive hand motions including simple grasp/fine manipulation

  • Vision screening requirements: Far point acuity (microscope), near point acuity (looking at samples), color perception (color distinction) with blue and clear

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed

  • Must be willing and able to work the 3rd shift

Duties and Responsibilities: * Follow all safety procedures and adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment and help to maintain a safe, clean work environment that includes general housekeeping warehouse duties. * As directed, move finished products and materials throughout the facility utilizing powered industrial trucks * Safely operate all departmental equipment which includes Filler, Keg Line, Switchback 150 & 500, Vacum Lifter, Date Coder, Heuft and bottling line. * Demonstrate cognition, and application, of advanced knowledge of standard operating procedures for each piece of machinery in department. * Perform detailed quality checks on finished goods as they move through the packaging process. * Provide Shift Supervisors with communication on impending material shortages. * Perform select administrative tasks including, but not limited to, quality checks on finished goods and accurately maintaining required paperwork. * Perform intermediate maintenance functions on equipment including using multi-meters to diagnose problems, raising/lowering heights and changing out pump seals. * Identify all lock-out tag-out points and Emergency Stops on all equipment. * As directed, operate internal equipment including Depalletezier and Switchback 150. * Demonstrate cognition, and application, of all departmental standard operating procedures and internal processes. * As directed, perform cleaning-in-processes (CIPs) for select departmental equipment. * Pursuant to Company Safety policies, fix any jams on equipment and immediately notify management of issues with machine performance. * Assist Packaging Instrumentation & Controls Technicians in performing select maintenance on departmental machinery. * Perform other duties as assigned. Machine Operator IIs must either have HACCP certification or, as a condition of employment, complete internal HACCP training within the first 90 days of employment.
