TransCore, (TRN) a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking three full-time Project/System Engineers to join our team in New York, New York.

The Project/System Engineers support design deployment, documentation, and maintenance of an integrated sensor platform. Position will include field work such as infrastructure surveys, oversight and evaluation of engineering in critical infrastructure. Position facilitates collaborative design work with local and distant engineering resources as well as multiple firms in a large project environment. Project/System Engineers will evaluate, monitor, and particularly troubleshoot a complex system of software and sensors in a roadside environment with critical geometries. Skills utilized will vary from civil to mechanical to electrical to computer and software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports design via infrastructure surveys, product search, datasheet analysis, and collaboration with sub-contractors

  • Documents systems using CAD and MS Office applications, including write-ups, analysis, and design drawings

  • Manages and oversees field installations of the sensor network, performs QA functions and testing during install

  • Troubleshoots during integration and maintenance, including sensor geometries, thermal issues, power issues, network issues, configuration files, and software / firmware loads

  • Improves maintenance options through research of better tools and methods, and analytics of field data

  • Supports sales, installation and maintenance; communicates product capabilities / requirements / specifications

  • Develops knowledge of product resources and fit to sites (bills of materials, layouts, wire schedules, conduit fill)

  • Performs Engineering calculations using Excel, including thermal analysis, power consumptions, network bandwidth, etc.

  • Grows as necessary in skills and expertise

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum five years of work experience

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (including via e-mail and phone)

  • Aptitude and familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

  • Excellent organizational skills, including documentation of projects and decisions

  • Experience overseeing engineering content during build, ideally in the field

  • Experience checking quality of completed engineering content

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • AutoCAD experience or proficiency

  • Basic knowledge of circuits and programming

  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical assemblies, and software/operating system

  • Experience with at least two drawing types: mechanical, civil, wiring, and schematics

Desired Skills:

  • Good presentation skills

  • Experience troubleshooting signals and power

  • Experience with NEMA / IP-rated enclosures in harsh environments

  • Experience on large-scale projects with multiple contributing firms

  • Design-build experience ideal, especially in operating and maintenance phase

  • Familiarity with traffic systems and / or road infrastructure

  • Understanding of drafting standards (ANSI/ASME, Civil, or Electronic)

  • Experience with configuring software / firmware

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Information regarding NYC civil service exams can be found on the DCAS website below: Position Summary: The Department of Education's (DOE) Energy Team consists of staff within the Division of School Facilities' Office of Maintenance and Optimization and the Office of Sustainability. The DOE Energy Team oversees energy management and emissions reductions activities across the DOE's portfolio, which includes more than 1,400 buildings, accounting for 131M square feet, and represents approximately 40 percent of total City-owned building square footage. DOE also is the largest energy-consuming City agency, accounting for nearly 22 percent of City government's energy consumption. The DOE is scaling up the volume of work generated to meet the City's reduction standards including reductions of energy usage of 40% by 2025, 50% by 2030 and 80% by 2050. To achieve energy and emissions reductions across our portfolio and let us fully participate in many DEM programs, including retro-commissioning and load management, the DOE must address the Agency's Building Management Systems (BMS) issues. The Energy Project Manager will identify controls related energy conservation measures. Performs related work. Reports to: Energy Strategist Direct Reports: N/A Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with Energy Managers citywide, Directors of Facilities, and other pertinent supervisors and staff associated with managing projects related to reducing energy consumption. Responsibilities * Plans, coordinates, directs, and implements large-scale, complex mechanical projects within the boroughs related to the management of energy. Delivers energy projects in facilities with BMS and HVAC digital controls systems. Oversees the implementation of contracted services. Ensures that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in accordance with scope. Manages project documentation and performs on-demand reporting. Helps track energy usage and energy cost savings associated with upgraded building controls systems. * Maintains management information systems to provide data for the planning and control of energy reduction as it relates to mechanical equipment, for use by senior management. * Implements a citywide DOE plan to upgrade outdated and defunct BMS systems across the DOE's Portfolio. * Manages inventory database of existing systems and equipment and their critical characteristics, including age and useful life. Uses the gathered data to identify controls upgrade and optimization opportunities that can be scaled up across facilities with specific commonalities. Conducts site visits to high-priority facilities to assess overall condition of systems and make recommendations for upgrades. * Creates highly technical and complex reports regarding Building Management Systems to analyze trends, anomalies, and re-tuning opportunities for optimized operations. Identifies BMS maintenance issues and brings them to successful resolution. * Prepares complex management reports regarding energy usage and consumption throughout a borough. Analyzes data associated with energy consumption and provides recommendations and advice to operations teams, gleaning from the reports and analysis managed. Focuses on areas of needed improvement and zeros in on significant problem areas. * Develops project scope of work through surveys and site visits and manages mechanical contracts and project managers throughout project implementation. Reviews contractor proposals for accuracy and inspects the completed work for project close-outs. Resolves technical project issues and manages project documentation, including work orders, scopes of work, cost proposals and invoices, and project status sheets. * Sets goals, develops performance metrics, tracks progress, and recommends areas of improvement for energy efficient operation and energy reduction, in coordination with the Energy Managers. * Lends expertise to the DOE Energy and Sustainability groups. Qualification Requirements: Minimum * A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and seven years of fulltime satisfactory experience managing and/or inspecting one or more construction projects which must have a total cost of at least $300,000 for each of the five years of the required experience; or * A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with a major sequence of course work in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology, or construction management, and three years of the experience described in "1" above; or * A valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect, issued by a board of examining engineers, architects or landscape architects duly established and qualified pursuant to the laws of any state or territory of the United States and three years of the experience described in "1" above; or * A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and a combination of experience of at least five years of the experience described in "1" above and the education as described in "2" above to equal a total of seven years of education and experience. Matriculation in an undergraduate college degree program in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology, or construction management can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience up to a maximum of three years of experience.
