Position summary:

The Project Technician may perform a variety of tasks on an assigned customer project including, but not limited to: Documenting components in the field per regulatory requirements; Ensuring that all process equipment in the field is properly identified; and tagging all regulated components in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential duties:

  • Hang Component tags in an efficient monitoring route.

  • Follow flagging tape and cards provided by flagger.

  • Ensure all difficult to monitor components are captured, tags are on each component, and the tag numbers are written on piping so they are visible from the ground.

  • Read P&ID's (Piping and Instrumentation Drawings) and place color coded flagging tape on process equipment so the Project Tagger knows what has to be tagged.

  • Place Tyvek Card with the tape so Project Documenter can identify equipment efficiently.

  • Document components on a daily basis.

  • Hang temporary Alpha tags on missed components.

  • Identifies leaks and processes leak tags

  • Must be able to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID) in an accurate manner.

  • Must be willing/able to don respiratory protection equipment for extended periods of time

  • Must be reliable/dependable with reliable transportation.

  • Must be willing/able to travel out of town for extended periods of time on a regular and recurring basis.

  • Ability to climb and work at heights up to 300ft.

  • Must be willing/able to work at moderate to high levels of physical exertion for extended periods.

  • Must be willing/able to work in inclement weather conditions (extreme heat/cold).

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

  • Industrial setting - Refinery, Petro-Chemical, Utilities, Pulp and Paper Mills, etc.

  • Regular travel out of town for extended periods of time is required.

Educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Skills and experience:

  • Strong communication (written, verbal and listening) and interpersonal skills.

  • Prior experience in chemical plants or refineries is helpful, but not necessary.

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem solving abilities a plus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities * Providing on-site Field Machining services and operating Machines such as but not limited to: * Hydraulically powered clamshell to pipe cut and bevel * End prep * Flange facer * Portable mill * Key-mill * Bore-bar * JTL * Portable dril * Adheres to safe and specified standards, completing all required documentation * Job preparation and mobilization / demobilization including equipment lists and preparation, procedures * Set up and * Adheres to all Hydratight and site related procedures and polices including work permits and proper use of PPE and other equipment * Strong mechanical aptitude with a sense of on-site ingenuity to rectify problems with equipment and/or difficult situations * Maintains company quality, safety and environmental standards and policies * Interface with client in a professional manner representing Hydratight to the highest standard at all times * Communicates job progression on a daily basis back to the main office * Accurate and timely completion and submission of all job related documentation including QA-QC documents * Complies with specific task requirements including ability to identify potential hazards through the use of risk assessment. Skills and Competencies * Ability to scope, troubleshoot and execute project to required specifications with support from service center * Understanding of decimal, fraction and basic mathematical calculations * Ability to read blueprint or isometric drawings is a plus * Computer literate Education and Experience * High school diploma, equivalent or military experience * Experience with field machining equipment with no hands on supervision is required * Possess Basic Plus and/or OSHA 10 * Active Nuclear clearance is a bonus Physical Demands * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs. * Must be able to work from elevated platforms. * Must be able to sit, bend neck, bend waist, squat, climb, kneel, twist neck, twist waist, grasp, reach above shoulder level for up to 3 hours a day. * Must be able to walk, stand, push, pull, and reach below shoulder level for up to 6 hours a day.
