The Project Team Lead is responsible for project management, documentation, and are accountable for working directly with clients to successfully develop projects, scope of work and completion of tasks which meet the quality standards of Uponor within the allocated timeframe for their own and team member's projects. The Project Team Lead is responsible for development and coaching of other team members on project management and to produce designs, construction documents and technical documentation in various project/construction phases for mechanical and plumbing systems of high complexity and difficult scope. This is a HYBRID position with periodic onsite work at our Apple Valley, MN headquarters.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for development of and coaching of all team members on project management, project scheduling and project validation.

  • Must be able to produce and/or facilitate designs, construction documents as well as technical documentation in various project/construction phases for MEP systems of high complexity and difficult scope and have the ability to work independently, and/or within a team while providing direction to other team members.

  • A MEP Project Team Lead is responsible for understanding all construction phases and project board status management including, scheduling, timelines, prioritization, customer/sales project interactions/communications, setting up and converting high complexity MEP system design concepts into specific MEP systems by gathering and interpreting information and analyzing data on client models, plan sets, specification while utilizing Revit/CAD and other software.

  • Must be able to perform complex pipe routing and/or modeling, technical documentation, design coordination, page setup, engineering calculations, publishing construction documentation and creating project material lists for residential and/or commercial projects.

  • Responsible for producing trainings on project workflow for all team members, manage the project schedules, assign and prioritize projects, and quality control of project documentation, schedules, and ensures projects are completed on time, within budget and meet all customers' expectations.

  • They provide conflict management, documentation, and project management.

  • Ensures billing processes are being adhered to and all documentation is recorded and accurate for reporting purposes. Assist with strategy, resource planning, and new product development and test, verify, optimize and assist in implementing processes and procedures while continuously exploring ways to improve project workflow efficiencies.

  • Provides an excellent internal and external customer experience with proficient knowledge to support and coach on industry design, calculation, material list, model codes, the construction cycle, and product questions in a timely and professional manner. Builds strong regional relationships as a liaison for the design lifecycle. Clearly articulates the Uponor Construction Services offerings and is accountable for maintaining and ensuring all appropriate documentation in accordance with Uponor standards.

  • Must have strong organizational skills and creates team engagement by being timely and responsive to all departmental meetings, training sessions and company updates. Embraces continuous learning and agility to increase knowledge and expand skill sets. Conducts onboarding and continuous training sessions with MEP designers to enhance their knowledge on the construction lifecycle and all internal project management processes.

  • Proactively works with supervisor to develop personal development opportunities, career path and performs other duties assigned.

  • Seeks out opportunities to contribute to the business success through proactive involvement in team initiatives.

What will you need?

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a field relating to: drafting, architecture, MEP systems, fire sprinkler systems.

  • 6+ years of relevant trade experience within the AEC industry

  • Requires familiarity with AutoDesk software (focusing on AutoCAD and Revit), Microsoft Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office platforms.

  • Must be detailed orientated and work well under pressure and deadlines.

  • Must demonstrate high performance and act as a role model for others in the group.

  • Use of effective and approachable communication style to engage others and to build effective teams; persuades and negotiates to build rapport.

  • Conveys information and ideas upstream and downstream throughout the organization, performs active listening, seeks feedback to grow, and responds appropriately to messages from others.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations Preferred:

  • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)
  • Hydronic (Mechanical) Design: CHD (Certified Hydronic Designer)
  • Plumbing (Potable) Design: CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer)
  • Fire Sprinkler Design: NICET III (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies)
