Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., a leading distributor and processor of metals in North America, serving customers through a network of service centers across the United States, Canada and China, is looking for a Project Tax Analyst to play a pivotal role within the Corporate Tax Department located in downtown Chicago, IL. This position will report to the Sr. Tax Manager, but will work with all members of the team. The responsibilities of this position will include activities in the areas of accounting/financial reporting, compliance, controversy and planning associated with corporate taxes such as:

Roles & Responsibility

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provision work papers to build expertise of ASC 740 requirements

  • Prepare income tax account reconciliations and coordinate tax entries with the accounting department

  • Preparation and review of book to tax differences for members of the consolidated group

  • Analyze fixed asset addition, disposal and transfer detail in the tax books

  • Analyze the companys Tax LIFO inventory calculations and prepare the UNICAP computations

  • Preparation of the consolidated federal income tax returns

  • Preparation and review of Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865 for Controlled Foreign Corporations

  • Preparation of various separate company and combined/unitary state income tax returns

  • Preparation and review of quarterly estimated tax payments

  • Preparation and review of other filings such as Foundation returns, Foreign Bank Account Reports, etc.

  • Respond to various federal, state and local income tax notices

  • Research of various federal, international, state and local income tax issues

  • Participate in federal, state and local income tax audits

  • Implementation of tax planning ideas

  • Coordinate with outside consultants as required

  • Make recommendations for process improvements

  • Build strong business relationships with personnel at various locations in order to assist with tax issues and minimize tax assessments.

Responsibilities Essential responsibilities include: * Work in collaboration with the Institutional Account Managers and the Surgical Regional Business Directors to grow Bausch & Lomb surgical product influence and revenue in Teaching Hospitals, Residency programs and associated Veteran Affairs Hospitals. * Follow-up on teaching programs leads generated by the Institutional Account Managers and Surgical Representatives. * Coordinate the resources needed to effectively evaluate Bausch & Lomb surgical products during the evaluation process (SES, RTM, PVM, COS) * Successfully oversee the implementation of our product adoption and usage after conversion. * Oversee the usage of Bausch + Lomb surgical products at VA hospitals with residents from associated teaching programs * Develop an effective teamwork relationship with other B+L representatives. * Support the company's mission of "Providing the World's Most Valuable Ophthalmic Experience" to customers by providing customers with excellent service. * Effectively utilize and manage expenses, sample accounts, and consignments in a responsible manner according to company policies. * Perform other related administrative tasks associated with your position according to company policies. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in science, business, or a related field. * 3+ years of ophthalmology sales or clinical/OR experience required. * Excellent organizational skills. * Ability to establish priorities to meet goals. * Highly motivated and results driven. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
