Project Specialist - Advanced Work Package (AWP) Planner

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented AWP Planner to lead the planning, execution, and control of AWP on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in project management, an understanding of AWP principles, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to ensure project success. The AWP Planner will be based at the ARB, Inc. Lake Forest office (flexible) for approximately 10 months then be on site in the Santa Clarita, CA area for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement detailed Advanced Work Package plans for EPC projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.

  • Lead AWP input and technical expertise on all AWP related activities during the DEFINE engineering and design process.

  • Implement and manage the AWP program across multiple offices and locations, ensuring alignment with the wider project process and system.

  • Identify and develop project-specific AWP procedures and tools as required.

  • Assist in the "right to left" delivery model, ensuring all DEFINE design incorporates sufficient AWP input.

  • Assist in the construction readiness process, ensuring execution gate criteria related to AWP is achieved.

  • Work with Construction, Contracts, and Procurement teams to develop contracting strategies aligned with AWP requirements.

  • Collaborate with Company Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to address corporate AWP requirements for the Project.

  • Provide AWP input to the planning process and aid in the development of construction and commissioning schedules.

  • Work with Logistics teams to develop logistics plans aligned with AWP requirements.

  • Identify potential risks and constraints in the AWP process and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Instigate Work Pack and Materials management on-site, ensuring traceability of materials and equipment, and liaising with QA.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • BS degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in project management, focusing on EPC projects and AWP methodologies.

  • Strong understanding of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Work Package Planning, and project planning principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex project requirements and develop detailed plans.

  • Knowledge of project-specific execution strategies and the ability to develop them to meet challenging project objectives.

  • Knowledge of risk management principles and experience in developing mitigation strategies.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with AWP programs, AVEVA is a plus.

  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.

Salary: 100-145k commensurate with skills and experience
