We are seeking a Project Planning Leader for construction projects in our Detroit, Michigan region. This position works closely with the Director of Project Planning and assists in managing of this group focusing on resources, project strategies, and maintaining the Project Planning Group as a high performance team. The Project Planning Leader will focus on specific project assignments and the development of long-term relationships with project stakeholders. This position also provides feedback on resources and discuss necessary training needs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for all pre-construction deliverables to clients.

  • Develops strategy for each assigned project.

  • Provides support to sales/business development, team/sales, presentations, and proposal writing.

  • Risk management-ensures sound financial deals.

  • Drives Cost Leadership.

  • Oversees/prepares estimates for projects at all stages.

  • Ensures accuracy of estimates produced.

  • Responsible to ensure that the costing database is current and includes labor and material updates.

  • Oversees the value-added process for each project.

  • Takes lead in preparing guaranteed maximum prices and brings guaranteed maximum prices to closure.

  • Directs, review, approves the work of Senior Estimators and Estimators.

  • Drives deadlines and achieves results.

  • Ensures client satisfaction during pre-construction.

  • Attends sales presentations and markets work to existing clients.

  • Enforce and support project planning: logistics and scheduling with other teams.

  • Ensures involvement of subcontractors for pricing.

  • Support operations during subcontractor negotiations.

  • Continuously developing staff by mentoring/leading/motivating/coaching (e.g. Ethics, Diversity, Quality, Development, Safety).

  • Manages client relationships.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance or a related job field.

  • Three (3) or more years years of experience in a related job field.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • A understanding of cost benefit analysis, risk management, statistics, general business skills, information technology, and construction or engineering.

Rework projects eliminate known defects with a part, includes work such as deburring or replacing a component part.
