Job Description

Planning is an integral contributor to the company's business processes and continuously interacts with many key EB organizations including Operations, Engineering, Design, Finance, Program Office, Materials, as well as our customer, the United States Navy. Planning Special Projects engages in a variety of tasks, with a focus on Project and Data Management, and is responsible for investigating and aiding in the resolution of issues of varying complexity by utilizing current or developing new business data structures.

Responsibilities:

This position will have responsibility for overseeing and supporting Planning for major programs, primarily Virginia and Columbia Class new construction, within the Special Projects group to maintain consistent methods and procedures across all classes and programs.

  • Assess network quality and planning data integrity to integrate reporting and metrics using current tools such as Artemis and Microsoft Office

  • Oversee and assist in establishing technically sound and rational planning models that will facilitate dynamic scheduling and implementation of resource-capacity scheduling tools such as Aurora.

  • Foster and maintain open dialogue with network owners and supported organizations.

  • Communicate concerns to network owners and supervision while aiding in the development and application of solutions.

  • Engage in both independent and team based development projects to solve or improve planning software and processes.

  • Develop and eventually be able to provide instruction to planning organization and associated groups.

  • Review existing and evaluate future systems to facilitate and implement cross program coordination efforts.

Assume ownership and act as point of contact for automated processing and reporting routines.

Education/ Experience

Required:

  • BS degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS, or 3-5 years planning/programming experience.

  • Candidates must be willing and able to interact with all levels of management and possess a strong desire to become both a business process and programming expert.

Preferred:

  • High degree of proficiency, efficiency, and effectiveness with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Structured Query Language (SQL), Microsoft Excel, and Artemis 9000

  • Thorough grasp of Project Controls roles, responsibilities, and concepts

  • Candidate should comprehend - or be prepared to grasp - concepts of Project Management principles, including Critical Path Method (CPM), Project Evaluation Review Technique (PERT), and Earned Value Management (EVM) with the goal of becoming a subject matter expert on these topics
