A Project Planner job in Pittsburgh, PA is currently available through Belcan. In this role, you will be responsible for project planning in the Primavera tool for scheduling in the Engineering and Product Development group.

You will improve estimates and robustness of plans, leading to on-time delivery of projects. You will also support the improvement of Resource Management and Capacity Planning as the next level in the Primavera implementation. The Project Planner is also responsible for guiding the Project Core Team in the management of all planning, scheduling and progress control related aspects of the project in accordance with the Planning & Scheduling Process. To be considered for the role, you will have a Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business or other relevant discipline along with a minimum of three years of project planning experience working in Primavera P6.

Project Planner job duties:

The Project Planner establishes and updates the Detailed Project Schedule (DPS), including leading the harmonization and integration of sub-schedules from all parties (functions, work package leaders) involved in the project.

The Project Planner regularly tracks and reports progress against the baseline schedule and continuously monitors risks and opportunities as well as proactively develops scenarios, mitigation or back-up plans if required.

The Project Planner produces schedule-related KPIs as required.

The project planner supports the Project Manager representatives communicating detailed schedule objectives or issues to suppliers or partners. Will also work with the various function heads to assign resources to the planning as well as perform the resource loading analysis.

To drive improvement in EAPD, primarily but not exclusively in the area of project scheduling and forecasting. To identify, develop and maintain the related processes.


Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business or other relevant discipline along with a minimum of three years of project planning experience is required.

Experience in project scheduling preferably in Primavera P6 of medium to large projects.

Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Experience with Improvements, Change Management, Six Sigma and Processes would be an advantage.

The main project areas at the site include remediation of historical research facilities, demolition of buildings, and characterization of site-infrastructure to support on-going maintenance. The Project Manager is part of a Project Management Office (PMO) implementing complex, multi-year projects through identification and completion of critical path and parallel work activities to achieve optimum performance. Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Implementation of the Earned Value Management System, as well as risk management and planning * Development of corrective action plans for troubled projects * Overall coordination of initial work planning/scoping working with operations and engineering to develop a resource loaded schedule and cost estimate. * Primary interface with operations and project planners/schedulers * Assist in planning and resolving interface issues with the customer and production groups. * Interface with customer technical representatives to ensure Preparation of Monthly Financial Reports including Monthly Progress Reports Job Duties / Responsibilities: * Bachelor of Science degree in relevant discipline (Engineering, Science or Business) with a minimum of 7 years of continuous experience as a Project Manager. * A minimum of 7 years of experience in the field demonstrating increased levels of responsibility with a minimum of 5 years management/supervisory experience on large, complex, capital/equipment projects involving radioactive and/or hazardous waste generation and disposal. * Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or other project management certification desired. (Must qualify as a PMP within 6 months of hire). * Candidate must be able to qualify as a Contamination Worker upon hire. * Prior US Navy Nuclear experience is a plus. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
