Overview

This position provides materials support and leadership during the engineering design, execution, and/or commissioning phase(s) of one or more projects.

Responsibilities

Working with minimal supervision, this position identifies material needs and lead times, generates requisitions, manages materials database and communicates material issues to project team.

  • Works directly with the project team to develop material ordering strategy and manage that strategy for the duration of the project.

  • Develops current material lead times and provides those durations to the project PCE for implementation into the schedule.

  • Advises project manager on prioritization of materials and develops expediting strategies.

  • Ensures successful completion of assigned project phases within the budgeted time and cost constraints.

  • Independently makes decisions on material delivery and impact on schedule and advises project manager.

  • Leads efforts to resolve project materials issues, identifies work process improvements and serves as the functional expert within the organization.

  • Using independent judgment and discretion, investigates problems and requirements of projects and develops and implements appropriate solutions.

  • Provides direction to expediting, procurement, transportation and project team on project specific material requirements.

  • Leads project teams in all issues related to material management to improve overall project cost & schedule effectiveness.

  • Alerts team members of any deviations or other problems that may impact project cost and schedule effectiveness.

  • Working closely with the project manager and other team members, lead the project team in all issues related to material management, to improve overall project cost & schedule effectiveness.

  • Prepares required reports, documents, spreadsheets, databases, graphs, cost estimates and summaries to communicate project progress or results.

  • May train end users on system use, document management or similar.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technical or business field is desired, but not required.

  • 3+ years of experience in database management, technical document control, and project support experience is desired.

  • Computer knowledge - proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

  • Experience with SAP software preferred.

  • Some travel is required (less than 10%).

VIEW JOBS 1/23/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-04-23T00:00 Overview The Project Engineer is responsible to provide guidance, and to manage the Engineering Design Team for activities associated with project scope, planning of tasks, and technical support for the completion of construction package development. This position plays a lead role in the development of civil, mechanical and electrical construction packages for one or more projects. Works with little supervision, receiving general guidance and direction; works on moderately complex projects and performs project engineering work from proposal to implementation; serves as a technical expert within the organization. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS This position typically reports to an Engineering Skills Leader or Engineering Manager; position has no direct reports, but may supervise the work of less experienced Engineers. Responsibilities * Prepares optimized plant layouts with consideration for cost, safety and operability. * Organizes and leads layout and constructability reviews. * Conducts site feasibility studies. * Manages flow of information for the plant design team. * Proactively manages plant design team with respect to scope of work, schedule and cost. * Facilitates team meetings and decisions; provides technical direction to project team members. * Leads the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, suitability of materials and similar. * Is innovative in developing, selecting and implementing engineering techniques and solutions to solve difficult problems; anticipates problems and develops contingencies. * Makes technical decisions based on full awareness of viability, cost and other benefits. * Maintains a thorough knowledge of Linde standards, guidelines, safety and operability best practices and industry standards. * Interface with Linde Gases operations department, or client, to understand and incorporate operations requirements into plant design. * Interfaces with customers, construction contractors and other organizations. * Primary interface between Linde field construction manager and engineering team. * Conducts regular visits to construction sites and participates in safety inspections. * Support proposal activity by completing definition packages and completing manpower estimates. * Has extensive and broad knowledge in a field of specialization and may have knowledge of other fields. * Mentors others on work process and technical topics. * Qualifications * BS/MS in Engineering with 8-15 years' experience or work experience equivalent with 20 years' experience. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Ability to meet schedule deadlines * Ability to manage change * Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to support project tasks and construction. * PMP Certification preferred The Linde Group Tonawanda NY
