Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Project Materials Analyst at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Position Description:

This position is responsible for all aspects of the spare parts provisioning process supporting sale of gas and sale of equipment operate and maintain projects in North and South America. This process consists of:

  • Gathering part information for new and existing project equipment to construct maintenance bills of materials in SAP

  • Figuring out and requisitioning the correct type of spare parts with the appropriate quantities while adhering to established sparing philosophies and standard methodologies

  • Collaborating with Engineering and Operations to ensure their respective concerns are captured

  • Supporting the development of spare parts estimates for new project opportunities

These activities must be performed on time to support plant start-up all the while staying within established budgets. This position greatly impacts savings objectives by applying existing inventory to support equipment, helping realize the benefits of building BOMs in SAP for maintenance purposes, and providing availability of parts to ensure plant reliability by mitigating downtime.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Preparing and holding a provisioning kickoff meeting with the project team, purchasing person, etc. for new projects

  • Review and Identify required spare parts based upon Operations developed equipment and product line sparing strategies.

  • Understand the create and extend process that gets submitted to the Coding Team to generate new material master numbers

  • Generate equipment spare parts BOMs for all applicable project equipment requiring spares

  • Monthly Tracking and Forecasting of Spares Budget and project activity completion status

  • Support the development of spare parts estimates for new project opportunities by working with Project Development Engineering, suppliers, Operations, Sourcing/Procurement, etc.

  • Set safety stock levels for new plants by considering existing inventory and sparing philosophies

  • Provide weekend and holiday on-call support three (3) to four (4) times a year

Job Requirements

  • More than 5 years' experience in materials management or analysis is preferred

  • B.S. in an engineering discipline or related subject area is preferred
