The HSC Vice President and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Executive Officer provides leadership to conceptualize, define, develop, assess, nurture and cultivate diversity, inclusion and equity as a Health Sciences institutional identity and resource resulting in widespread educational benefits and measurable health and healthcare value for New Mexico. The Health Sciences OfDEI is committed to growing New Mexico's diverse health care, STEM H and biomedical sciences workforce and increasing access and success in education for our learners; all in partnership with UNM, families, learners, and communities across New Mexico. We organize a variety of community engagement and collective impact initiatives designed to encourage innovation and transformation in collaboration with local, state, and national entities to address key health, economic and educational equity.

Essential to achieving our mission are the following dynamic OfDEI elements: LGBTQ DEI, Leadership & Faculty DEI, Community Initiatives, Community Wellness, ENLACE NM, the STEM-H Center, Communities to Careers, the New Mexico Workforce Diversity Center of Excellence, the HSC Climate Assessment, and our dedicated and invaluable OfDEI team and many partners. This position will report directly to the UNM Health Sciences VP for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

This person will be an integral part of the core leadership team working collaboratively on various Vice President projects at the OfDEI such as the Health Sciences Inclusive Excellenct Council This may include short- or long-term projects across academic units or other entities, programs, or centers at the UNM HSC. This position actively participates in building strong relationships across UNM Main and branch campuses, UNM Health Sciences, and NM communities by engaging in communicative, collaborative, and respectful relationships. This person will be the primary point of contact for both internal and external constituencies on matters directed to the Vice President and will research and prioritize incoming issues to propose appropriate course of action, referral, and/or response.

The person will also coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Vice President to include scheduling and prioritizing assignments and implementation of effective operating policies, procedures, and systems. The Sr. Project Manger will directly assist on a variety of special projects with institutional and/or community impact.

This role researches, prioritizes, and follows-up on multiple issues and concerns addressed to the Vice President, including those of a sensitive and/or confidential nature; configures and manages databases, compiles and prepares reports for internal leadership and external entities; creates and/or maintains systems for organization of information and data related to matters of the Vice President; and produces a range of complex, well-written educational, informational, and promotional presentations, and other materials for the Vice President. This position may be required to work nights and weekends as needed. REQUIRED: 1.

Cover Letter Upload (cover letter MUST address how applicant meets the preferred qualifications) Duties and Responsibilities Supports the Vice President in problem solving, project planning and management, and development and execution of stated goals and objectives in relation to special projects and initiatives of the OfDEI, Health Sciences, and the University, such as the Inclusive Excellence Council. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Vice President to include scheduling and prioritizing assignments and implementation of effective operating policies, procedures, and systems.

Oversees the planning and coordination of key special events and intitiatives for the Vice President. Serves as a point of initial contact on matters directed to the Vice President. Researches and prioritizes incoming issues and proposes appropriate course of action, referral, and/or response.

Screens, evaluates, and proposes appropriate response to all written correspondence received by the Vice President; formulates and disseminates written responses as appropriate to various audiences. Gathers and/or analyzes DEI-related information data to inform promising or best policies, practices, or operations. Develops, reviews, and ensures completion of complex reports and presentations as required.

Reviews and approves financial transactions, as assigned, and advises the office principal on appropriate disposition. Organizes and facilitates meetings, conferences, and other special events; coordinates and attends committee meetings, and participates in committee discussions, as appropriate. Provides assistance in the understanding and interpretation of University policies and procedures, as appropriate, and ensures that office operations are in compliance with policy provisions and standards.

Conditions of Employment Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience providing high-level support to leadership. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.

Experience effectively communicating with members of executive and senior leadership, faculty, staff, community leaders, governmental bodies, and funding agencies. Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills. Project management experience.

Ability to synthesize substantial amounts of information and produce concise and comprehensive reports and presentations. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion. Understanding of the climate and culture of the UNM HSC and New Mexico.

Works with multiple technologies such as Zoom, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), and Smartsheets. Experience working in healthcare and/or education service environments. Fluency in languages commonly used in New Mexico, other than English.
