Join Cardno's Science and Environment team as a Project Manager/Biologist in Glendale, CA to lead one of four project elements for a technically and geographically diverse team. The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility to develop additional work under our existing MSA and position Cardno for upcoming opportunities.

Job Description:

Cardno is currently seeking a Project Manager/Biologist to lead one of four project elements for a technically and geographically diverse team. The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility to develop additional work under our existing MSA and position Cardno for upcoming opportunities. Upon winning new work, the candidate will work existing resources to deliver the agreed, defined project deliverables on time, within budget, and of the quality that is in accordance with Cardno and client business, technical, health and safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment).




Comply with all Cardno and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use.




Provide technical review of project documents, feedback and mentoring to junior staff.




Engagement in the process and willingness to identify process improvements to provide added value to our client.




Provides expertise in business development (Environmental) within CA with a focus on the greater LA Basin.




Lead technical proposals and private clients.




Lead and/or participate in aspects of proposal preparation and scoping exercises, such as sourcing and seeking quotes from subcontractors/suppliers.




Supervise and delegate tasks to Cardno staff and/or subcontractors.




Anticipate and initiate business development and Project Management without prompting from their Supervisor.



Basic requirements:



Minimum BS degree in biology or related science with 8+ years of environmental consulting experience.




Working knowledge of State (CA) and Federal regulations and experience linear projects environmental permitting.




Strong client satisfaction track record.




Demonstrated commitment to safety.




Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgement.




Ability to adapt the team and organization in a changing/dynamic environment.




Possess an outgoing personality to network with Cardno and subcontractor staff.




Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.




Possess an understanding of contract administration and office procedures.




Ability to coordinate with a team composed of Cardno and subcontractor staff to maintain efficiencies and meet deadlines.




Ability to analyze and interpret technical studies, financial reports, and legal documents.




Excellent verbal and written communication skills.




Ability to lead and manage project teams in a fast-paced environment.




Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel, MS word, and various Cardno and client systems.




Strong quantitative skills.




Self-motivated; resilient initiative.




Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with demanding deadlines.




Willingness to travel and work in a variety of field conditions within California.




Must be physically fit and able to navigate rugged conditions on foot (day and night work may be necessary).




Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: > Obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment). > Comply with all Cardno and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use. > Review client requests for environmental clearance to ensure they provide adequate information. > Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work and ensure proper reviews and/or surveys are completed by Cardno staff or subcontractors according to client schedule. > Engagement in the process and willingness to identify process improvements to provide benefit to our client. > Complete desktop reviews to determine appropriate levels and types of environmental reviews needed for new projects. > Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship.
