Description Project Manager/Architect

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Leads production of schematic design, design development and construction documents.

  • Works directly with Project Manager to select and recommend procedures.

  • Develops preliminary designs.

  • May supervise Architectural Interns (Design Interns), Project Leaders (Job Captains) Designers, and be assisted by Interior Designers or Marketing staff.

  • Organize and direct the architectural and/or engineering team to execute the work in an orderly, timely, and coordinated.

  • Oversees construction phases of projects.

  • Serves as liaison with clients and consultants for projects.

  • Communicating with and coordinating the preparation of documents with consultants, contractors, team members.

  • Review and approve shop drawings, project submittals, etc. for document compliance.

  • Communicating and coordinating with management, clients, consultants and contractors related to daily business operations.

  • Occasional travel required.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Architect.

  • 7+ years of professional experience required.

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in using Revit Architecture.

  • Ability to use ACAD, Photoshop, SketchUp or other 3D Modeling, Animation, Rendering computer graphics programs a plus.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interact with senior management, external client organizations and vendors

The Safran Electronics and Defense America (SEDA) Electromechanical Systems (EMS) department is seeking a proactive engaged leader to join the leadership team as a Technical Project Manager. This position is located in Irvine, CA. This Technical Project Manager will lead development and planning for the electronics and software aspects of our world class designs for Pilot Controls or Actuation products for a variety of Commercial and Military Aerospace customers. In this project manager role, the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence and predictable performance by planning and coordinating execution for cross division team members with a focus on system level discipline, task allocation, and robust lifecycle plans. Ability to assess big picture plans, understand program constraints, propose win-win solutions, and facilitating collaboration will be essential. A high standard for engineering execution and a strong desire for continuous improvement will be essential for this role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for building relationships with multiple internal departments and external customers. Leading technically and behaviorally are equally key for this role. The successful candidate must be able to apply their technical expertise to collaborate with team members to achieve program and department goals. Complementary description Education / Experience: Basic Qualifications * - A bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited institution. * - Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship * - Candidates external to Safran: Relocation may be available for this position Position Criteria: * - Experience leading teams in a formal or informal role * - Knowledge of airborne electronics and software development and development guidelines such as DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754, ARP4761 * - Experience developing aerospace mechanical or electrical systems and demonstrated success in applying systems engineering discipline * - Proven expertise with project planning, delegation, and execution * - Experience setting up and monitoring performance tracking metrics * - Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% (typically 25% or less) to domestic and international locations. Preferred Qualification * - Experience with electromechanical products, specifically motor control * - Experience with subcontract and remote team management * - Experience with development infrastructure, tool setup, and process compliance * - Experience with certification and process audits * - Hands on experience with systems verification and validation planning, development, and execution.
