Overview TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known energy efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US and around the world.

These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. TRC acts nationally to address some of our country's most challenging problems: global climate change and energy independence. TRC is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to contribute to the implementation of state and regional initiatives related to clean energy workforce development.

The Project Manager will be supporting a highly successful and highly visible statewide public benefit workforce development program, with a focus on career awareness and attracting new workers to the industry. The Project Manager will engage with students, guidance/career counselors, and job seekers, as well as training and educational organizations, clean energy businesses, and other workforce development stakeholders. Many of the engagements will focus on working with organizations and individuals from historically underserved communities.

The Project Manager will work with TRC and client teams to contribute to the development and implementation of insightful, creative solutions and test market-based approaches to address workforce skills gaps and overcoming market barriers in areas such as high-performance buildings, alternative transportation, large scale renewables, and energy storage. The position involves frequent travel (average of 20-40%, including some evenings and weekends) and regular participation at in-person events, at time with short notice. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with team members (internal and external) of varied backgrounds.

The ideal candidate should enjoy interacting with diverse types of individuals, especially young people. This position requires flexibility; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent organizational skills. This is a hybrid position in the New York Market; Albany preferred.

Responsibilities Responsible for providing program and project status reports and updates to NYSERDA Senior Managers. Support the development and execution of clean energy workforce development initiatives related to building a robust, diverse, equitable, and inclusive clean energy workforce. Engage with a broad array of stakeholders and partners to promote state workforce development initiatives and clean energy career opportunities.

Attend career exploration events and similar events across New York State to share information on clean energy career opportunities and NYSERDA Workforce Development and Training Programs. Contribute to New York State efforts related to grade K-12 clean energy education initiatives. Engage with clean energy training providers to review their recruitment, training delivery, and job placement support strategies.

Track key metrics related to outreach and engagement activities. Qualifications 4+ years of experience in any combination of workforce development, STEM education/training, career counseling, building science, clean energy programs, and/or community outreach. Candidates with experience teaching and/or working with youth/young adults preferred.

Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, environmental science, policy, public or business administration, or related field preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including an ability to effectively present and execute information in an effective manner for specific audiences. The ability to set priorities, manage a robust schedule, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Project management experience, excellent written and verbal communications, high degree of organization and attention to detail, analyzing technical information, Proficient in software such as Microsoft Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.). Salesforce preferred. Awareness of social, economic, and environmental contexts of statewide energy and/or workforce development policies preferred.

Candidates with experience working with a department of labor, community college workforce development program, or related entities preferred. Fluency in languages other than English considered a plus. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
