We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our growing team!

Position Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for delivering projects at customer locations on time and within budget and scope. The PM is the primary contact person on site working with the client and is responsible for representing the company in a professional manner. The PM organizes and directs how the work gets accomplished and identifies ways to complete the scope of work that meets or exceeds the financial constraints of the bid.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and with team members to identify and create business opportunities with new and existing customers

  • Attend customer meetings, community events, site visits, and participate in any pre-bid meetings

  • Perform and complete a through review of scope, schedule and cost for each project assigned

  • Review scope, schedule, resources and any contracts to develop proposals and provide for review as applicable with approval matrix for preparation/submission

  • Negotiate and close new work

  • Remain at a minimum 50% billable in any calendar month

  • Identify, propose and close a minimum of $20,000 in project work each month

  • Thoroughly review contracts and negotiated changes prior to contract execution to assure awareness of contents and requirements and ability to perform work

  • Work with Service Center Manager's to procure, schedule, and dispatch necessary resources such as personnel, equipment, sub-contractors, and materials for project execution

  • Supervise projects and perform duties including, but not limited to contract management, quality control, project supervision, accounting, health & safety and resource management

  • Develop, submit and monitor all project change orders

  • Ensure Health & Safety policies and procedures are met and work closely with the H&S team to resolve any on site issues

  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with all regulatory agencies rules and guidelines

  • Monitor on-site activities to ensure that all contract requirements, budgeted costs and profit margins are met or exceeded and customer is fully satisfied

  • Ensure that project cost reporting, revenue reporting, and other financial data are accurate and submitted timely for each project

  • Direct/review/complete invoicing and assist in any collection tasks, including follow up with clients when necessary regarding unpaid invoices

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree preferred in Environmental Science or Chemistry or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience related directly to environmental field service projects

  • Background in business, management, budgeting and analysis

  • Ability to read project plans or blue prints

  • General Civil Construction capabilities

  • Confined Space certified

  • Excavation Competent Person

  • Knowledge of contract execution and proper notification

  • Understanding of shoring and shoring systems

  • Working knowledge of RCRA and TSCA regulations

  • Cost estimating experience

  • Good computer skills (proficient in Word and Excel)

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Full command of the English language both spoken and written is required

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Established in 1955 The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC is a privately owned engineering services and specialty distributor-subcontractor. We are the premier provider of architectural hardware, doors, door frames, and related building specialties for non-residential building applications throughout the US. Summary The project manager works closely with branch manager to stay abreast of customer needs on each active project: participates in problem resolution for jobs by skillfully gathering and analyzing information, developing alternate approaches and working well with small groups. Essential Functions * Receives telephone calls, emails and other correspondence from customers and coordinates response with branch manager assuring reply within 24 hours. * Corresponds and follows up with customers by sending final door, hardware or other schedules for approval. Assures a prompt return and communicates changes and progress of schedule. * Contacts customer before each jobsite delivery to assure proper scheduling of delivery and assures all logistics regarding delivery commitments are fulfilled. * Coordinates job site meetings to assure that branch manager is able to attend according to the customer's schedule and requirements. Attends meetings and takes notes of meeting when branch manager cannot attend. * Proactively anticipates customer needs and actively and periodically solicits feedback on Cook and Boardman performance. * Participates in developing solutions for customers and salesperson with technical issues involving hardware and door products. * Monitors production schedules * Keeps project files orderly and efficiently. * Manages any project changes, revisions, revised purchase orders and changes order documents and Comsense files to show revisions. * Attends weekly sales meetings to provide information or input for any customer services issues * Performs site surveys where new doors, frames & hardware are being replaced and existing conditions must be verified * All other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications * 2 year degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or equivalent experience * Proficient in Microsoft Products, including but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook * Comsense, Protech or Contract ERP experience preferred * Functional and working knowledge of computers * Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Knowledge of Division 8 and/or Division 10 * Ability to read and understand construction contracts * Effective time management skills * Effective communication skills both verbal and in writing, good mathematical skills * Strong organizational skills * Self-motivated and proactive * Winning attitude * Ability to multi-task * Detail oriented * Professional and polished in both appearance and speech Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Work Environment This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Requires driving as well as flying to project sites.
