International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available
Duties & Responsibilities
SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Perform project management functions in coordinating and supporting ISS/Orion Emergency Mask flight hardware products and systems development phases, such as: design, procurement, fabrication, test, data analysis, certification, and flight/mission delivery.
Provide direction to matrix organizations in the requirements development, design, manufacturing, testing, and certification of flight hardware.
Review essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate flight hardware, development or qualification test articles, or test support hardware.
Review and evaluate the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusions drawn from accomplishment of engineering tasks.
Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity.
Work in a team environment and report to NASA leads to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
Periodic travel may be required to support hardware development and testing.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field and minimum of five (5) years of related experience
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field (including space flight hardware development and certification processes), such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software.
Experience with reviewing Work Authorization Documents (WADs) to process Class I hardware for flight/testing support.
Experience with performing cost and schedule estimating and management functions.
Experience with performing risk management including risk assessment and implementation of risk reducing measures
PREFERRED
Prior experience with flight hardware or with Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) hardware development.
Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.
