Duties and Responsibilities

Direct all phases of a project, including development of the project plan, ensuring adherence to the plan requirements and required reporting. Streamline assigned projects and ensure the objectives defined for the project can be achieved.

Accomplishing project objectives. Plant operations expense tracking and monitoring. Weekly report generation of ongoing projects.

Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Manage resource allocation. Maintain excellent communication with Care Centers and Corporate Staff.

Ensure quality standards are met. Prioritize and organize assignments. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Conveys project changes and updates to appropriate team members. Manage and develop client relationships. Attend client meetings, as necessary.

Perform all other duties as assigned. Order products and services on behalf of our Care Centers to ensure their supply and equipment needs are met. Inventory products at the Care Centers and assist determining par levels and purchasing needs within Central Supply.

Determine continued clinical necessity of all rental equipment and assist in the return of unneeded equipment. Assist the maintenance team with the procurement of parts needed to facilitate repairs to broken equipment. Assist the Care Centers with managing their equipment rentals, oxygen usage, and Part B ancillary supplies.

Schedule building visits with Executive Directors, Regional teams, and send progress reports in a timely manner to groups involved. Maintain excellent communication with Care Center and corporate staff, building designees and other vendor partners. Attendance required at all meetings and conference calls at the discretion of your supervisor. Must be computer literate, excellent working knowledge of all pertinent software related to complete the task.

Working Conditions

  • 90% of the position involves traveling.

  • At times, this position requires overnight stays and interstate travel.

  • Schedules are subject to frequent changes.

Education and Experience

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or a year related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LPN experience.

The Architecture and Engineering (A&E) Services Unit provides productive, efficient, and cost effective management of programs and services, which support and enhance field operations to achieve the goals, mission and vision of the Virginia Department of Corrections. This position directs and oversees planning, budgeting, procurement, contracting, environmental, energy, architectural and engineering design, permitting, Maintenance Reserve requests, and operational funded special projects programs in a cost effective, resource efficient manner, and in compliance with laws and procedures. Directs and oversees unit operations in absence of Assistant Director. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. The successful candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in the following areas: architecture or engineering, project administration, development, design, construction, codes & standards, specifications & materials, permitting, and accepted construction techniques. Licensure as a Professional Architecture (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) from the VA DPOR. Considerable progressively responsible supervisory experience. Extensive knowledge and demonstrated work experience in project planning and management, organizing, designing, implementing, and monitoring large-scale and time sensitive projects, developing packages for Department of Engineering and Buildings (DEB) approval, requests for proposals, and contracts. Additional knowledge and experience must be demonstrated in the following areas: business processes and operations; policies, principles and practices of construction design and management, as well as the ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent priorities, and collaborate with others. Demonstrated ability to: build and lead effective teams; communicate effectively both written and orally with diverse groups internal and external to the Department; develop peer relationships internal and external to Department; critically evaluate project proposals; interpret and effectively apply policies/procedures and federal/state procurement laws; plan, coordinate and manage multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner; facilitate, negotiate, compromise, and obtain agreements from a diverse group of project participants; make business decisions to achieve desired results in the best interest of the department; provide leadership and organize staff and professional services toward a common goal. Preferred Qualifications Masters level degree from an accredited college or university and/or a combination of experience and education. Considerable progressively responsible supervisory experience. Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO) and training in the CPSM Manual. Certified Energy Manager, LEED ® (BD+C) or other approved green building certificate.
