GENERAL SUMMARY / OVERVIEW

The MGH Strategic Alliances team plays a key role in initiatives that are aimed at fulfilling MGH and Partners HealthCare System's (PHS) broader vision on development and implementation of innovative programs that seek to optimize and grow the care delivery model. Our team supports a diverse portfolio of projects that focus on new business ventures, co-development collaborations with industry and the development of large scale care delivery initiatives. This team is asked to provide high quality program management, consulting, and analytic support.

The Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Alliances and will work on major initiatives critical to executing Strategic Alliance agreement objectives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Alliances is looking for a Manager who can:
1.Drive and support new Strategic Alliance implementations and digital healthcare strategic initiatives.
2.Proactively identify and appropriately frame projects both in response to market / industry dynamics, and MGH-specific and PHS-wide priorities.

As an integral member of the Strategic Alliances team, this team member will be exposed to a wide variety of clients and unique business problems. This position will help develop strategies for the future that meet internal needs and have commercialization potential to optimize hospital operations, financial and clinical performance, and improve patient outcomes for broad populations in the marketplace.

Overall responsibilities will include:

  • Management of projects from inception (business planning) through implementation (start-up operations).

  • Develops and manages relationships with multiple departments including: physician practices, ancillary departments, information systems, Partners eCare Team, Partners Finance Corporate and Partners Innovation.

  • Coordination among internal stakeholders / departments (e.g., Legal, IT/ IS, Finance) and operating units to ensure strategies address the full continuum of issues.

  • Synthesizing perspectives and requirements from a diverse clientele (e.g. clinical, regulatory, finance, etc) into a cohesive plan or operating model.

  • Developing high quality deliverables in support of key strategic initiatives.

On a day-to-day basis you may be asked to:

  • Produce project deliverables (e.g. road maps, strategy presentations, business plans, market assessments, presentations, etc.) tailored to a specific internal or external audience.

  • Plan and execute large, cross discipline meetings, actively participating to ensure sessions runs smoothly. Support all SA activities across multiple departments/services to support new strategic alliance implementations and on-going business.

  • Create, manage, and distribute project documents: project plans and charters, checklists and implementation plans, policies and procedures, agendas, minutes, risk analysis, status reports, etc.

  • Understand and communicate the project timeline and scope, working to engage team members on a variety of levels to promote participation and partnership.

  • Engage partners from across the organization to build out new programs and drive results.

  • Coordinate activities among a diverse set of team members to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

  • Develop an analytical approach to a quantitative question that involves finding/pulling data, manipulating and cleaning data and conducting the analysis.

  • Maintain rigorous analytical and data synthesis skills; in particular develop pro formas and other decision support models to guide strategy and key operational decisions.

  • Works as an autonomous decision maker, but recognize when the involvement of the senior business consultant and the appropriate leadership at MGH is required.

  • Bachelor's degree required (or higher level of education), Master's preferred

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, (2 in management consulting strongly preferred), corporate strategy, healthcare IT, or relevant experience in the fields of healthcare, life sciences (e.g. pharma, biotech, med device), or healthcare insurance (payer, PBM).

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

  • Highly independent and proactive with a sense of urgency. Attention to detail and commitment to highest level of accuracy. Ability to learn quickly.

  • Demonstrable presentation and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong MS-PowerPoint/ iOS-Keynote and MS-Excel/iOS-Numbers skills. Ability to communicate complex information and concepts to mixed audiences.

  • Highly effective and courteous with various groups of staff, management, and providers. Ability to problem solve and function as a resource to other members of the team, and unravel complex issues.

  • Understands and appreciates the privilege and the burden of maintaining confidentiality.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills. Ability to conduct meetings and facilitate working sessions.

  • Excellent analytical and modeling skills, comfort with budgeting, accounting, and NPV/ IRR/ ROI analysis is required. Strong experience with Excel.

  • Experience with project management, strategic planning or business planning required

  • Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills. Proven track record of executing challenging analytic and problem-solving projects to drive measurable business value.

  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage timelines that involve multiple stakeholders, and organize and prioritize work independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard office setting, 40hrs per week, may require travel, night and/or weekend work on occasion.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position will not have direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

This position will manage the budgets for a portfolio of Strategic Alliance engagements.

Position Summary The Partnership Lead delivers Alliance Partner capabilities into Bain case work and product solutions.
