Position summary

Downer Rolling Stock Services are seeking a Project Manager to lead our major component change out programs for Waratah and Millennium fleets over the next 2 years.The role is responsible for ensuring that the Component Change Out elements of the TLS contracted fleet Technical Maintenance Plans are planned, costed, scheduled and delivered to cost, quality and time standards. This involves ensuring that:

  • All necessary human resources are in place and working collaboratively under the PM's leadership to deliver the contracted requirements

  • All necessary materials and services are procured and available as required by the schedule

  • All necessary tasks and materials are configured into the businesses maintenance management system, and necessary activity is planned, to facilitate implementation of CCO requirements

  • Detailed standard costings are established for each CCO activity and updated periodically based on experience - to inform the Contract FCAC models.

  • Interface systems, processes and service standards are established and monitored with service suppliers (including Downer internal service suppliers).

  • Preparation of project budgets, contract reviews and reports

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Strong background in plant/heavy vehicle/rail maintenance operations or overhaul projects in a similar industry

  • Project Management qualifications (preferred)

  • Demonstrated capability to lead a multi- discipline team and bring together a range of disparate activities, resources and stakeholders to deliver the project outcome.

  • Proven ability to mediate across multi-functional or multi-discipline teams to achieve agreed objectives.

  • High level interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrable ability to successfully influence and persuade people at all levels.

  • Strong results orientation, and a track record of delivering projects on time, on budget and to required quality standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of project, shutdown and change management procedures.

  • Preferably, knowledge and understanding of Rail Rollingstock and Technical Maintenance Plans

  • Proven experience managing a small multi disciplinary team

This is a fixed term 2 year position with potential to extend and is based at our Auburn Maintenance Centre in Sydney.

Project Manager Duties: * Effective Leadership * Preparation of project construction schedules * Submission of Request for Information to clients * Manage day to day activities of assigned projects * Act as the main point of contact for project personnel * Coordinating meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables and addressing outstanding 'open items' as requested by clients * Preparation of look-ahead documents and weekly, monthly progress reports and billing information * Reviewing and monitoring job costs versus budgets * Reporting to management team * Change Request/order pricing * Other duties as assigned Job Requirements Project Manager Skills/Qualifications: * Candidate must have electrical construction experience (licensed electrician preferred). * Must have knowledge and understanding of construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services * 5 years or more of experience in the electrical industry and/or possessing project management experience within commercial and industrial electrical construction projects is preferred * Experience with Accubid software is preferred * Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is desirable * Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required throughout WA and surrounding areas * Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills * Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish * Knowledge of Lean construction methodologies and principles is critical * Must be very well organized and methodical * Demonstrate professionalism in how you look, what you do, and what you say. * Demonstrate personal accountability * Must be self-driven and have the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time * Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Project is required Salary commensurate with experience.
