Prime Machine is currently seeking a Project Manager who has expertise in a Manufacturing Environment.

Who is Prime Machine?

Prime Machine, Inc. was created in 1979 to provide emergency Industrial Equipment Repair and New Component Fabrication Services to a wide range of customers statewide and beyond. We currently provide Large and Small Machine Shop Services, Welding Fabrication, Millwright Field Services, Gearbox Repair, and State-of-the-Art Laser Inspection Services. Our major Customers are found in Mining, Power Generation, Aerospace & Defense, and other critical Industries.

What does a Project Manager do?

Project Manages to manage projects through the shop: by determining customer requirements, estimating, developing shop routers, creating and following project schedules, working to customer and company quality requirements, and invoicing the project upon completion. Primary communication between our customer and shop.

What does Prime Machine Expect from our Project Managers?

  • Project managers are our technical representatives to the customer.

  • Being able to assist with the closing of sales by providing our customers with the assurance Prime Machine Inc. understands their requirements and can meet them.

  • Reviews requests for proposals and completes the proposal preparation including estimates, and other proposal documentation. Including a complete review of the proposal and contract requirements.

  • Estimates projects for quotation. Estimates will include the development of routers that plan work methods, procedures, materials, and outside service requirements. Sets the cost goals for job completion. Complete review of all contract terms and conditions then assures compliance or negotiates changes as necessary.

  • Explains and assists customers in understanding proposals.

  • Reviews outstanding proposals regularly and reports lost status.

  • Create job routers. Insure authorization from customers through contracts, purchase orders, or verbal agreements. Routers to include schedule requirements, quality requirements, material requirements, and work plan procedures and operations with goals.

  • Manage assigned projects. Review with the Area Managers and Production Manager the router with requirements such as; quality control documents, schedules, and cost goals. Engage team members to solve problem project issues. Define solutions and incorporate them in the job routers.

  • Negotiate extra work prices with customers. Review jobs regularly and compare goals to actual incurred.

  • Reviews work in process and negotiates any schedule conflicts.

  • Prioritizes projects according to customer requirements and reviews with other project managers to prioritize all shop projects.

  • Review the completed shop router for necessary required paperwork, and authorize shipment. Close work orders and prepare information for invoicing of jobs.

  • Serve on the Material Review Board for all assigned projects on any non-conformance issues.

  • Research technical information as requested.

  • Develop personal relationships with customers and clients. Visits customer sites, and invites the to lunches and other mutually beneficial engagements. Increases sales through improved customer understanding of Prime Machine Inc.'s capabilities.

What the ideal Candidate would possess?

  • Firm understanding of machining, welding, millwright, and mechanic trades.

  • A minimum of 7 years experience in manufacturing processes in all or one: Machining and Welding in; Aerospace, Defense, Mining, Power Generation, Oil & Gas industries

  • Committed to quality and quality systems.

  • Customer relationship skills- considerate. Computer skills- knowledge of job estimating, router, purchasing, shipping, and receiving systems. Knowledge of machining, mechanics, vibration analysis, welding, and other shop functions required to complete projects.

  • Broad knowledge of Prime Machine Inc. process equipment, and manufacturing principles.

  • Knowledge of geometric tolerance standards and their application to workable parts.

  • Negotiate skills. Good listening and communication skills.

  • Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, or Business degree. 7-10 years experience of cost accounting and manufacturing processes
