The Development Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the initiation, planning and execution of projects within the Software Development Department. A successful PM will monitor teams to ensure objectives are met, have an understanding of the respective modules, and deliver features within scope on time.
Coordinate daily with development leaders, quality assurance leaders, and product management. Identify high priority items and schedule meetings with respective project team members and stakeholders. Communicate through email and item tracker. Lead weekly meetings that range from large group to small groups. Write up and send out meeting notes and action items to keep the teams informed and on track.
Work on four to five medium-to-large projects and approximately a dozen smaller projects simultaneously. Maintain item tracker items and ensure that all relevant data is kept up to date (estimated development time, approval source, assignments, etc.)
Identify challenges by interviewing the right people and resources on a timely basis. Monitor the progress of projects to ensure they will be completed on time. Intervene where needed to clear road blocks and clarify process and action items.
Create status reports. Inform stakeholders (upper management, operational business units, cross-departmental) of progress. Produce several reports throughout the lifecycle of the project. These reports should identify project description, key event summary, identified challenges, and timeline of each milestone of the project.
Manage change requests. Work with colleagues to identify changing requirements and ensure that appropriate parties are updated on project modifications.
Develop project plans. For larger projects, create and maintain a project breakout and timeline. Coordinate with the Developers, QA, Product, App Support, IT, and other departments to ensure each piece gets done on time and expectations are managed.
