The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the execution of contracts for equipment and modernizations of lifting equipment provided to the Nuclear Power Industry. The scope of responsibility begins after order acceptance by the Company and continues through equipment commissioning and customer acceptance. The Project Manager is the prime customer interface during the execution of the project.

The position requires managing customer contracts from order kick-offs to weekly/monthly progress updates, customer meetings, contract scope adherence, change order management, financial results, project schedule, cash flow, progress payments, monthly forecast.

Project Manager must understand the impact of successful execution on all internal and external stakeholders and to plan and execute with consideration of all stakeholder interests.


  • Individual will have full project responsibility from project acceptance to customer acceptance. The primary focus is to deliver the project scope as per customer requirements, within schedule and quality requirements.

  • Manage, coordinate and schedule multiple customer projects working with all internal departments

  • Primary point of contact between the customer and KNES

  • Budget and Project Financial Responsibility

  • Manage Project document Submittals

  • Develop and Manage Project Deliverables Schedule

  • Organize and Coordinate Freight

  • Managing Customer Change Orders

  • Responsible for SAP Data Entry and Management as related to the Position

  • Communicate project status to management

  • Organize and head Internal and External Kick off Meetings

  • Participate in acceptance testing


  • Individual must have 4 or more years project management experience working for an OEM providing high-value, made-to-order products.

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail is a must.

  • Experience working with government contracts is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the nuclear power industry is a plus.

  • Must have good communication skills.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required with experience in project management

(Post secondary degree with prior experience and training will be considered).

  • Ability to efficiently handle and administer multiple tasks on concurrently running projects.

  • The individual will have good computer skills and will be working with SAP, Excel, Word, Microsoft Projects, ePDM and Power point.

  • Must have strong technical aptitude and a desire to fully understand our products and processes

  • Prior experience with overhead (EOT) cranes is a plus.

Enters PO into SAP and sends order acknowledgement to customer Initiates INTERNAL project kickoff meetings with project engineering, production and supply chain team, establishing schedule for submittals and clarifying any unique requirements that must be fulfilled. Hold weekly team meeting to review status of submittal drawings and SR kit (custom BOM) releases. Maintain project status excel file as ready reference for team. Track project notes specific to each sales order via OneNote. Issues Submittal documents to customer and follows up to ensure timely approval Provides notification to production that we have received approval to release to production Works with Supply Chain team to ensure all standard and custom parts are on time to meet production schedule Updates MV Drives Global Database with current lead times Provides a two week forward looking view of all planned shipments to ODW, Bentley and Logistics team. Initiates Purchase Req to Bentley for export packaging. Provides a weekly update to our forecasted shipments for the Month and Quarter. Information includes planned Revenue, costs and Margins and planned date of shipment Coordinates with production team and customer on any planned Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Serves as host for customer FAT and coordinates all activities including any customer specific requests. Collaborates with Finance team to ensure all shipments are processed for Revenue recognition and invoiced appropriately. Conduct Project Close out meetings that document lessons learned, and compares AS SOLD vs AS PRODUCED costs and margins. Ensure CPLUS costs are updated with actuals for production assembly hours, and PE and PM hours. Act as single point of contact for customer from time of order entry until Warranty completion. Collaborate with field service team to ensure sufficient lead time is provided to schedule commissioning of drives. Provides appropriate shipping documents (Bills of Lading, Packing Lists, weights and dims) for all Export projects to local LSU project managers. Works with ABB LSU's on coordination of pickup of goods from Bentley World Packaging (BWP). If delays occur on customer end, ensure proper Bill and Hold Paperwork is completed to allow for revenue recognition. Requirements: Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and 9 years' combination experience in project management or technical sales support or engineering OR Associates' degree and 7 years' experience in project management or technical sales support or engineering OR Bachelors' degree and 5 years' experience in project management or technical sales support or engineering * A Master's Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience. * A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience.
