Project Manager - Engineering

Our client, an engineering-focused product design company in Orange, CA, is hiring a Project Manager to join their R&D team and manage projects from ideation through successful launch.  You’ll have a big impact on the processes, methods, and tools used to deliver projects as this is a newly created position as the company continues to grow.  You thrive in a collaborative environment, remain calm under pressure, and have the confidence to build trust and positive relationships with others in order to get the job done.What You'll Do

• Collaborate across the organization to plan, organize, and manage all phases of an engineering product design and manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.

• Develop and manage project governance plans, project schedules, team goals, success criteria, project milestones, resource management, key metrics, and budgets.

• Take ownership and responsibility for issue management, risks, decisions, and the overall success of a project with internal and external (suppliers) teams.

• Create and/or manage all project-related reporting, documentation, and deliverables.

• Implement standards, processes, and tools used for effective project management.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree - preferably in STEM field.

• 3+ years of mechanical, electrical or design engineering experience.  

• 3+ years of project management experience in a physical product development environment.

• Experience with MS Project, Gantt charts, and gate phase project management.

• Strategically minded, self-starter with the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects.

• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to work across the organization to plan, organize, schedule, and coordinate the work of others.

• Thrives in a collaborative environment, remains calm under pressure, and builds trust and positive relationships with others.

• Ability to travel up to 15%.
