Ipsos is seeking a driven Project Manager: Market Research

with functional expertise and technical knowledge to aid in the execution and coordination of complex Advertising and Brand Health measurement programs. These programs have the potential opportunity to work with large west coast based companies. Flexible schedule will be considered for individuals working with clients in different time zones.

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Owning end-to-end execution and problem-solving for the project

  • Promoting best-in-class operational processes to deliver on-time & in-full

  • Ensuring projects are within budget, investigating overages and reporting issues and resolutions to management when needed

  • Partnering with the client and account team in research design, development and timeline

  • Providing training, mentorship and delegation to entry level employees

The right candidate will:

  • Act as an effective liaison with operations and client service teams, forging strong interpersonal relationships through collaborative efforts

  • Provide oversight on all aspects of end-to-end project execution

  • Provide joint accountability for research quality and client satisfaction

  • Have strong written and oral communication skills, able to effectively articulate project details, issues and resolutions with internal stakeholders at all levels in the organization

  • Have mastery over processes and methodologies, adept at using analysis & reporting tools

  • Showcase proactive tendencies, continuously looking for ways to add and create value

  • Ready inputs and deliverables for final edits and follow-ups

  • Possess high attention to detail, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be inquisitive

Required Experience:

  • 4 yr. degree or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of project management experience from the market research supplier side

  • Brand Health Tracking and/or Advertising Evaluation a plus

  • Project Management certification (ex: PMP) a plus

  • Proven expertise with standard research inputs (ex: questionnaire, coding specs & tab plans, sample plan & quotas)

  • Proven expertise with standard research deliverable outputs (ex: data tables, toplines, report decks, cross-tabulation tools)

  • Process management and improvement

  • Proven ability to pinpoint issues (ex: quality control, timeline slippage, scope) and manage workload with conflicting priorities

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will report to a Senior Director of Competitive and Market Analysis (CMA) within the Corporate Strategy & Development (CS&D) team and will be responsible for providing comprehensive market and competitor research and analysis to support strategic planning and business unit initiatives. This individual will work both independently and in close coordination with other members of the CS&D team, business unit, strategy and marketing organizations to conduct research and share insights. This individual will be responsible for educating business partners on the implications of competitor activity and assisting in driving the relevant changes to strategy and tactics. This role also provides the opportunity to support strategic and operational planning initiatives, providing broader exposure across the business. The CMA Senior Research Manager will drive projects/engagements include conducting interviews, forming sophisticated hypotheses, conducting research on competitors and markets, and synthesizing conclusions and insights into recommendations. CMA team members work collaboratively with colleagues and internal business partners, and should expect to publish insights as well as prepare and participate in executive presentations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Monitor strategies and actions of key competitors in the financial services and not-for-profit retirement services industry * Analyze and synthesize key issues and trends in individual financial services, banking, and/or not-for-profit retirement services, as well as their implications to TIAA businesses * Interact with leaders within the business units, strategy and marketing organizations to disseminate relevant and useful competitor insights * Partner with the business units, strategy and marketing organizations to assist in driving the relevant changes to strategy and tactics through regular communication and reporting, as well as in special projects * Manage relationships with key external syndicated research providers; leverage tools to inform strategic insights and deliver self-service capabilities to the organization * Lead research, occasionally collaborating with external research vendors * Publish insights as needed including based on industry events and in quarterly trends presentations * Develop methodologies and approaches for monitoring the market and competitors * Manage a competitive intelligence intranet portal, including monitoring content updates, functionality demos, and responding to business partner inquiries * Support CS&D and CMA leaders in strategic consulting, operational planning, M&A analysis, and other management activities. Required: * Bachelors-level degree * 5+ years of professional experience in financial services, consulting, and/or financial services industry research Preferred: * MBA or other Masters-level degree * Professional experience in, and knowledge of, financial services products (preferably in retirement services, annuities, or investments) * Professional experience in strategy development and leveraging research to influence strategies * Ability to put structure around broad business topics / questions and develop end-to-end frameworks to strategically address such topics / questions * Experience leading qualitative and quantitative analysis and research, using information from multiple and sometimes conflicting sources * Ability to triangulate, synthesize and communicate information and "big picture" insights and implications appropriate for senior leader audiences * Demonstrated strong writing, presentation development, and presentation delivery skills, including to senior leader audiences * Self-starter, high energy and detail oriented; ability to work with minimal supervision * Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset * Project development and management skills * Ability to work and adjust to changing deadlines and competing priorities * Ability to work in team settings as well as independently * Unquestioned integrity and the highest ethical standards * Appreciation and passion for the mission of TIAA * Ability to lead cross-functional efforts inclusively * Ability to effectively work across a matrix organization * A commitment to a culture of excellence and client service Equal Employment Opportunity is not just the law, it's our commitment.
