Responsible for the management of multiple electrical utility transmission and substation construction projects and/or solar field construction projects. You'll work closely with the Customer to complete ground up projects of varying size and scope. You'll direct Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practice and conditions. Projects will vary from less than $1M to $25M.

  • Manages all facets of project construction

  • Manages project team by providing direction and leadership

  • Responsible for ensuring delivery of the day-to-day management services for the duration of the project

  • Coordinate and attend project planning meetings, pre-design and design meetings

  • Inspect the site; review and/or coordinate design reviews for the various disciplines, review for code compliance and adherence to the contract requirements

  • Recommend approval or rejection of submittals as appropriate; monitor progress with regard to schedule and delivery dates

  • Prepare, correspondence for the Contracting Officer's signature, maintain complete records of A/E contract documents, project related documents, plans and specifications, samples, keep track of all changes in construction specifications and drawings, maintain the latest approved construction documents and A/E's performance evaluation

  • Track progress of projects against goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets

  • Monitor expenses to ensure they fall within the prescribed budget

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in construction management (medium to high voltage transmission, substation construction and/or solar experience preferred)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management preferred

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint, experience with construction management software such as Primavera preferred

  • Work experience tracking and updating CPM schedules, RFIs, submittals, payment analysis, review of ongoing work at the site, attendance of meetings and project coordination with the costumer

  • OSHA safety training preferred

  • Previous experience in project management of large scale facilities and/or Federal and state contracts (medium to high voltage distribution projects and substation construction preferred)

Job Description: Assists Project Manager and Construction Manager with overall administrative direction of one or more projects. Responsible for assisting with overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality, and project status. Maintains an excellent relationship with subtrades and clients. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities - Safety & Environment: * Assisting CM/PM in establishing project safety & environment programs Risk & Opportunity Strategy: * Ensuring project profitability - understanding and enforcing contractual responsibilities, contract documents and resolving disputes * Maintaining excellent relations with owner, architect, consultants, subcontractors, public Project Planning &Execution: * Supporting the project manager and Construction Manager in development and distribution of the Project Execution Plan (PEP, which is to include, but not necessarily be limited to: site-specific safety and quality plans, organizational structure, contacts list, roles & responsibilities, communication protocol, document control, site logistics, schedule, buyout strategy, procurement, subcontracts, staffing and equipment plans, filing system, cost and quantity management, commissioning, and closeout procedures) * Setting up of project reporting procedures (cost reports – labor & material, site office procedures, document drawing control) * Assisting CM/PM in establishing the construction plan and engineering methods Schedule: * Assisting superintendent in developing and monitoring the project schedule and budget Quality: * Developing and ensuring compliance with quality control plan / establishing site QUEST action teams as necessary * Involved in all facets of project close-out, including archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies and warranty work Project Cost Controls: * Handling all change orders, including negotiating, processing and assessing cost and schedule impact * Performing detailed cost review of equipment to be used * Subcontract Management * Negotiating and issuing subcontracts and major purchase orders and monitoring their progress, schedule and conducting subcontract buyout Project Administration: * Preparing / verifying of progress payments to owner and subcontractors, and monitoring progress Communication: * Providing performance status reports regarding cost forecast, schedule and safety * Meeting manager; acting as chair on project meetings * Labor relations * Liaising with building authorities and regulatory agencies Professional Development: * Supervising, mentoring, coaching and training project personnel Qualifications, Certifications, and Education Requirements - * Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management, or 3+ years of related experience and/or training * Excel, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project Experience Company Benefits: The Ryan Company offers a competitive salary with an outstanding benefits package including health insurance, accrued vacation time and employer-matched 401k.
