Project Manager III

Overview

The Research Informatics Operations (RIO) team is looking for a seasoned project manager to support the information system needs of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) research community. This position will report to the Director of Account Services, Clinical Trials, and will work closely with Dana-Farber clinical research stakeholders and functional leaders within I&A to identify, prioritize, and address the clinical research data informatics needs of DFCI and the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Project assessment for importance to DFCI mission.
• Oversight of scheduling and timely completion of projects.
• Communication and providing support for projects.
• Manage complex assignments, whether studies, research projects, or organizational projects.
• Training new staff; demonstrated proficiency in managing complex, cross departmental projects as necessary and serving as mentor, guide, or supervisor for other staff.

Qualifications

• MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.

• Three years' minimum of professional, related experience overseeing complex projects.

• PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree preferred; college courses and/or very related experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree

• Additional higher education courses related to project management, healthcare administration, quality management, process improvement highly preferred

• Experience in an oncology setting preferred

• Project management, customer service, communications experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Extremely strong project management and organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion in a deadline-driven environment
• Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage changing priorities
• Self-motivated, independent, and able to learn new content quickly and apply it projects
• Effective diplomatic skills and ability to use good judgement and discretion
• Superior communication and customer-service skills, able to work effectively with all levels of the organization
• Effective leadership and management skills
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills to evaluate all aspects of a situation and make appropriate decisions
• Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high quality deliverables
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and completing job responsibilities
